Anyone want to talk about Ferguson MO?

zerostepdrama's picture

And what is going on right now?

Do you agree with the grand jury?

Do you agree with the protestors and how they are chosing to protest?

How do you feel about an unarmed person being shot by the police?

I agree. And when all of those jerks go home, the citizens of Ferguson will be left with burned out buildings and small business owners who will suffer financially.

zerostepdrama's picture

Scubed- I cant access the site at work. Do you mind giving me a brief summary of what Dorian has said about the incident? I'm curious. Thanks!

My BIL is a cop and my father was a cop for 18 years before he retired from the force. They both have said that what the evidence of events show they would have reacted the same way Wilson reacted. My BIL made a comment yesterday that nearly had me in tears. "No one cares about how many cops are killed every day." He actually feels that way. That no one cares if a cop is killed, but people protest when a cop defends himself.

zerostepdrama's picture

Was that actually him?

I remember when the tape came out but didnt know if the cop KNEW about the robbery when he came in contact with MB and if that was really MB in the tape.

zerostepdrama's picture

I have to agree with this too! I wonder why he didnt shoot him in the leg.

I can not put myself in a Police Officer's place and try to understand the feelings and what is going through your head when you are trying to apprehend a suspect who is not cooperating.

Sunflower1's picture

Shooting someone in the leg during a high stress situation is almost impossible. Police and military are trained to shoot at the largest part of body mass-everything else is fallout. Also, my understanding is that they are trained to shoot until the threat is diminished. I'm a pretty good shot, but there is no way in hell that I could reliably shoot a moving target in the knee or foot under optimal situation, let alone under duress.

Evil stepmonster's picture

Michael Brown was reportedly on a controled substance. Does any one remember the bath salt thing in Florida? They shot and shot and shot and the person wouldn't stay down. It's like that with meth, crack, and pcp. The adrenelin in your body is on over drive and a gun shot to the leg to a person that big, on one of those substances would not stop the person from running and fighting back. It hasn't been confirmed by the toxicology report yet that I know of, I believe it was the person that was with him that said that.

B22S22's picture

Was that the one where the child/person was waving around an airsoft gun at a playground that had the orange tip removed (which signifies it's not a "real" gun)?

B22S22's picture

Watching the news last night and this morning.... one thing made me scratch my head...

They were protesting police brutality and heavily criticizing the militarized stance the police force took during the first riots in August. Then this morning they were criticizing the police force and National Guard for toning down their "stance" which resulted in burning vehicles, buildings, uncontrolled looting, and rioting.

Which way do they want it?

Disneyfan's picture

If the cops are able tone down their stance when the world is watching, they should be able to do the same when the cameras aren’t there.

The way the trouble makers are acting now, I’m sure the police ARE concerned about their safety. Yet, they aren’t shooting to kill. Why does the fear of life or death that causes them to end a life only occur when they think no one is watching?

B22S22's picture

Human nature maybe? And if they HAD been (more) forceful last night, resulting in injury or death, how do you think that would have turned out?

We'd be back to square 1 with police brutality, racism, and profiling.

I think they were in a lose/lose situation. If they stood down, they were criticized. If they fought back, well, we know how that would go.

mommy0104's picture

I wasn't there...I can't say whether or not I agree with the jury's decision. The one thing I can say is that all the rioting, regardless of who is doing it, is ridiculous!! Even Michael Brown's family has said they do not want to "fight violence with violence" Those who are angry and rioting are not doing Mr. Brown's memory or his family any good.

Evil stepmonster's picture

I was raised by a police officer. I have always had respect for the law, sadly not many people do anymore.
Are their bad poice? Of course there are, there is bad in every thing. Are there racist police, I'm sure there are, but I'm also sure that for every 1 racist white police officer there is also 1 black racist police officer. I've also seen women police go way over the top with how they handle prisoners because they feel they have to prove something.
I've heard people call police pigs, and curse at them, yelling at them. I read yesterday a new trend was when a police officer has arrested you, tell everyone he touched you in a sexual manner.
Police officers are given the right to use deadly force, we have given them the right to do so. How is any police officer supposed to go to work and do his or her job correctly to protect us if they are now scared they will go to prison for it, or be labeled a racist, or rapist, or anything else? This country is heading in a bad direction.

Parents of kids of all races need to teach their children to obey the law and when the police say to Stop, Stop.

mommy0104's picture

I agree!! I'm constantly reminding my children that rules and/or laws do not just apply in our home or school but in society as well. Yes, there are racist people and "bad cops" but not all of them are like that and they need to respect the law and not fear or hate law enforcement. I also remind them that without rules and laws, the world would be utter chaos (even though after seeing the riots I'm sure they think we're already full of chaos)

DaizyDuke's picture

What I don't get is why people of color, fight and protest and beg to be treated "equally" and then do things like this? It's kind of counterproductive eh?

I also think that even if the officer would have been indicted.. there STILL would have been looting, rioting, and people acting the fool as a "celebration"

There really is no hope for humanity..

mommy0104's picture

You took the words right out of my mouth. This was exactly the same thing I was telling my husband last night. Either way there was going to be chaos. And the people rioting are mad about equality and don't want to be singled out based on their color yet they are the ones causing the chaos...makes no sense.

Sunflower1's picture

Agree. We just had a police shooting here (a cops tv show camera man died during it as well) where an armed robbery was taking place-it was an c02 pellet gun painted all black.

B22S22's picture

That's very easy to do... our neighbor boy did it to my son's airsoft gun so he'd be "cool". My DH, after calming down and lecturing the hell out of both of them, threw the gun away.

thinkthrice's picture

IMHO The "My Race Right or Wrong" is just as bad as the guilty parents "My Kid Right or Wrong"

Most people today are as bad as the KKK Southerners back in the first half of the 20th century.

Where are all the protests about African Americans fatally shooting other African Americans? When there is black on asian or black on white crime, why is that hushed and silenced by the mainstream media?

Problem is there are scads of evidence showing that the Gentle Giant (TM) attacked the officer and did not comply after he committed strong arm robbery. The only one who said that his hands were up was his partner in crime who has obviously been discredited.

And for those who feel this is "payback" to the "man" since when have two wrongs made a right?

Disneyfan's picture

"Where are all the protests about African Americans fatally shooting other African Americans? When there is black on asian or black on white crime, why is that hushed and silenced by the mainstream media?"

Blacks have been speaking out about crime in our communities for years.

You have got to be kidding about the mainstream media keeping silent about blacks committing crimes against ANY group. You turn the news and the first 10-15 minutes is filled with reports of crimes in my community of committed by those who look like me. Hell, if you went by the media (left and right) you would think all black men are thugs.

If we believe the media, we would believe the only kids who are kidnapped are little blond hair, blue eyed kids. We all know that isn't true.

zerostepdrama's picture

Agree- media always has news stories for the white kids and women that go missing. That is unfair because every life is important, especially when it comes to missing children.

People want to get upset about crime, they need to go to Chicago and peacefully protest there abou how many people are killing each other AND how there is a HIGH rate documented police brutality.

Disneyfan's picture

I disagree with the grand jury.

I think there should be protest BUT the people there just to cause problems

I'm sick and tired of police officers getting away with killing young black men. Was Brown wrong? Absolutely, but he didn't deserve to die for trying to be a bad ass. The officer could have used a Taser, pepper spray or hell shot him in the leg. Now the officer walks free. A few days ago he was shopping networks to decide which one will be the first to interview him. I really hope I missed it, but not once did I hear his lawyer send condolences to the Brown family in the statement that was released last night.

Evil stepmonster's picture

I really don't think it had anything to do with the fact that MB was black. I think if a 300 lb 6'4 white, hispanic, russian, asian, etc was attacking him that way he would have responded the same way. The way all police officers are trained to respond to life threatening situations. They are granted the use of deadly force by the state and town they serve. When they are forced to use it because of someone elses actions they are now labeled racist, murderers, and people demand they fry. It's a shame the police can't do their jobs any more with out one group or another proclaiming discrimination because one member of that group did something that caused this.

I hold clowns like the justice brothers, mainstream media and our government responsible

Justice brothers fan the flames racism will never die they won't let it people are making lots of money off it

The MSM spins the story around and cherry picks everything for ratings

They work in concert with..

Our government which is drunk on power and never hesitates to use a situation like this to help in grabbing even more power

They want us divided

They want us distracted

They want us fighting with each other so we don't come after them

positivelyfourthstreet's picture

I put Faux Nooz under the MSM umbrella too

The media have been deplorable

Faux Nooz agitates too

It's a kinder, gentler agitation

Disneyfan's picture

Al Sharpton goes to those places IF the family asks him to come. You have to contact his office in Harlem to request his help.

God forbid anything like this ever happens to my son, I wouldn't hesitate to hop my ass on the A train to request his help. Prior to Sharpton and other civil rights leaders shining light on the cases, they were brushed under the rug. Has Sharpton screwed up in the pass? Hell yeah (Brawley, Crown Heights riots) but he has helped many families obtain justice.

People change. I view Sharpton in the same light as I view Malcom X. Malcom started out as a thug, racist, hate monger…however, as he grew and got a chance to really look at what was going on and the role he was playing in all of it, he changed.

zerostepdrama's picture

My DH and his friends grew up in South side Chicago in the streets (my DH also once lived in Cabrani Green just to give you an idea) and they will be the first to tell their sons if the police say Stop, to Stop.

I think its awful that a man lost his life. But he had done something criminal. Had he just obeyed the officer he would still have his life.

I think the real unjustice was with Trayvon Martin, because George Zimmerman should have listened to the police dispatcher/operator and not have pursued Trayvon.

positivelyfourthstreet's picture

I feel bad for decent people of any stripe who are stuck there

I lurk on a prepper forum and there's one guy there who lives right in the middle of it

I think he might be a cop. IDK. Anyway, he sent his family upcountry for safety a while ago. It looks like he's staying to go to work in the

daytime and make sure they don't burn his damn house down at night.

I can't watch the news too much anymore

The stupid hurts

Nat'l Guard should have shut it down the minute they started chucking rocks at people the way palestinians do

herewegoagain's picture

I honestly have not seen the proof, therefore, I can't say if the decision was justified or not, however, REGARDLESS of the decision, what is happening is outrageous and wrong. Hey, I'm actually a minority. I have had someone in my job say some pretty nasty things about me ONLY because of where I am from. At one point there was a security guard I was always nice to and once he found out where I was from, he almost flipped. I continued to be nice to him although he seemed a bit distanced. One day he finally opened up and said to me "you know, all I know about YOUR people is X…and my son married someone just like you, or so I thought…but I have to say, you have really opened my eyes. I used to think everyone from there was X and now I can see that is not true." We continued to have a very good friendship and I get it. People from where I am from complain all the time about racism and believe me, I DO KNOW it exists and I have experienced it myself, however, behaving like a moron is NOT the solution. My view has always been PROVE PEOPLE WRONG! And I have NEVER been a racist, ever. I, at a very young age, was very involved in equal opportunity for all, NAACP, etc…but eventually I got SICK AND TIRED of the BS of OUR people complaining and yet doing exactly what everyone complained about and behaving like idiots.

To the people in Ferguson…when businesses LEAVE and you have to drive 30 minutes to get some darn milk, don't blame society, blame YOUR OWN PEOPLE…I know I do.

PS by the way, I was constantly harassed by other minorities in school because of where I was from…including African-Americans…go figure!

I heard an interview with someone last night. He is an African American and they asked him if he was scared to be a black man in America. His answer was priceless: "I am not afraid and my sons are not afraid. I am also not afraid FOR my sons. I think that I would be scared to be a black THUG in America because you WILL get taken out or taken to jail. But I am NOT scared to be a black MAN in America."

Personally, I think that the officer reacted the same way to this incident as he would have if the guy punching him was Hispanic, Asian or Caucasian. If you don't want run ins with the cops, don't break the law. And if you DO have a run-in with a cop, for Heaven's sake, DO WHAT THE OFFICER SAYS!

zerostepdrama's picture

Agreed! I think he could have made different choices (not of pursued MB) but I personally do not know what it is like to be that situation, so who knows what I would have done. Everything you say though is spot on.
