I seriously live in the Twilight Zone

A little background...Last May I took SS8 and SD10 to the dentist because their BM has never taken them and both had rotting teeth. SS had 10 cavities and had to have two removed they were so bad and SD had 8 cavities and had to have two removed. I won't get into the details of trying to get BM to help pay. That's a whole other story. So after two appts a month (guess who took off work to take them), last month was the last one.

Friday at the dinner table:

SS - (pointing to two teeth) my teeth hurt
Me - Why, have you been brushing your teeth at your mom's house
SS - NO
BF - WHAT!! SD have you?
SD (barely audible) No
BF proceeds to rip them both a new one and tell them no more treats and all the Halloween candy is going in the trash.

I had to leave the table. I am not taking any more time off work. These kids can have rotten teeth. I don't care anymore. BUT...There's more

Sunday at lunch

SS - Are you going to buy me a toothbrush for my mom's house
ME - What happened to the toothbrushes I just sent down there two months ago
SS - Mine is on the floor
ME - Well pick it up, wash it off and use it...or ask your mom to buy you a new one
BF - ......(Nothing he's hiding out in the bedroom)

Wow!!! My DD22 got her only cavity at age 19. My DS16 and DS14 still have NEVER had a cavity. How do people let this happen?

BM says "she tells them to brush". OK i do to and then I make sure they do. Lazy parenting.
