Appropriate School Dress

Seriously...why isn't the school dress-coding this girl? Or, is she getting dress-coded but no one is bothering to tell DH about it?

I caught SheSloth walking up the drive after school today. She seeps to have figured that something similar to this was proper school attire today:

Are you kidding me? Strapless is against school dress code! It is allowed at special functions such as dances, prom, etc., but as far as regular school attire goes, it is stated in the handbook:

"8. Revealing or inappropriate clothing is not allowed. Exposure of undergarments, cleavage, the back, and/or the midriff is prohibited. Strapless, spaghetti strap, plunging, and low‐cut tops are prohibited."

I know, if DH is driving to school, how did she get out of the house with that, right? Because it is in her gym bag, because she wears workout clothing to school as color guard if first period. DH has no clue what this girl is wearing to school! If I happen to be in the kitchen (because I'm running behind on eating my dinner and washing my dishes), I may see her walking up the drive like I did today.

Now, the dress in the picture I posted is longer than the dress SheSloth was wearing. The dress she was wearing may have just barely met the dress code in length...that it must be below the fingers of the wearer if the wearer has their arms straight down their sides. Why do these girls insist on dressing like hoochies all the time? And bigger question, why isn't the school doing anything about it?

My guess--she is wearing a hoodie/sweater with it so that it hides it. At our school, they have two options, change into scrubs (loose, baggy, ugly scrubs) or call home to get appropriate clothing. Most opt for option 1, as parents would find out if they chose option 2!

She had wrapped over her arm a very flimsy top...one she wears very often with camies, and it hangs so far off her shoulders that you can see the cami straps and her arm pits when she wears it. It does not close in the front...no buttons, zippers, etc. Kinda like a sweater, but it is about 80% lace, and the other 20% is some very thin, see-through jersey material. There is no way she hid the dress with that. So yeah, she may have worn that, but it wouldn't have helped matters much. Unless she borrowed someone else's jacket or hoodie through the school day to hide it. But seriously, why even wear it in the first place? I mean, there is no way in hell that dress offered any support for "the girls"!

Which brings to mind another reason I'm so happy that marching competition season is over, and there are only two more games in the regular football season! That guard uniform! Girl should not be prancing around the field like that in something that doesn't offer any support! The young guys in the stands may like it, but I prefer not to watch bouncing boobs!

If that's what she had over it, she should have been dress coded. I do know that there are some teacher's who don't enforce, simply because they don't have admin support. But there's no way every teacher would turn a blind eye--she has to be up to something.

And I agree, I'd be glad for it to be over too!

"why isn't the school doing anything about it?"

Maybe the teachers feel their energy is better spent teaching than telling people what to wear. I work with kids (mostly girls) and unless what they are wearing is a literal safety hazard, I and my coworkers don't concern ourselves with it. We aren't the fashion police. Certainly, they would be appalled!

Oh, the same teachers who let SheSloth turn in assignments 4 weeks late for FULL credit, so precious doesn't fail their class and lose her guard spot? And how are they teaching with the guys staring at the barely dressed girl? BS19 used to get hassled if he didn't shave, and SheSloth doesn't get sent to the office for inappropriate dress?

Of course, the one that should be doing his job by monitoring what she wears is DH!

Wow, I'd be pretty pissed if a teacher let my kid get away with not doing assignments as they are given. Talk about setting a terrible precedent!

If my son chose to stare at girls instead of doing school work, I'd be ashamed of my own parenting and him.

Yes, 100% right, its the bio parent's job to deal with this crap about dress and hygiene and whatnot.

Back in the dark ages when I was the Sloth's age girls often had clothes and makeup in their bags that they changed into once they were out of the house and out of mom and dad's sight.

Heaven forbid if they got caught though.

DH needs to light up some Sloth butt with a belt for this crap.

Once I started military school there was no issue with dress code or hygiene. Even for the young ladies in the Corps of Cadets. Now weekends while on off campus permit ... that was an entirely different story. }:) }:) }:)

We used to wear school uniforms. Every once in a while we had to line up, and be measured...so many inches above the knee. As soon as you walk away, you roll those skirts up at the waist. Lol. Tops you could never get away with. Collared shirt, buttoned up. I don't think anybody tried to mess with that rule. Once they let us wear pants, dress pants of a certain color, the skirts were pretty much history. The collared shirts remained.

I WISH they wore school uniforms! That would be AWESOME! In the schools that do have uniforms, the girls can wear pants. In most cases, it is something like khaki pants and x-color polo shirt for the uniform. I would be all over that with SheSloth if she had to wear a uniform! I would gladly hand her the ugly clothes! And when she asked for all this cool, expensive stuff, the excuse for not buying it would be, "Why? On Saturday's you live in PJs, and you surely can't go to church in THAT, which is the only time you can wear normal street clothes!" Bwahahahaha!

Oh, and speaking on clothing...note, it has been about 2 months since she did laundry last. Yeah, she hasn't washed her color guard uniform EVER! I would say maybe that is why she wore the dress, but I doubt it. Wonder what she is wearing today....may have to start hiding out in the kitchen and take pictures of her walking up the drive for DH. The dogs give me plenty of warning, because they go nuts when they hear the bus drop her off a block away. Wink
