Thursday from HELL!!!

Evil stepmonster's picture

DH normally gets dPPP and SS7 on Thursday nights for a few hours. I was all set to crack open my bottle of wine and watch Grey's and relax when DH asked me if I would go with him.
Why does he always want to seperate me and big Carl...my wine glass.
Begrudgenly I agreed because he wanted to use my car and his kids are not allowed in my car unless I'm in it. We went to dinner and then we were going to take them walking around the mall for an hour or so because DH wanted to get a few ideas for Christmas for them. I do love walking around the mall.
Pick up was as usual unpleasent. SS7 was his normal happy go lucky self but as soon as dPPP saw me the pouting started. Once we got somewhere to eat and sat down of course she has to go to the bathroom. I'm looking over my menu and not making eye contact with either dPPP or DH but it doesn't stop him from asking me if I would mind. Sigh.
Get back to the table and a coke is sitting infront of my chair...well that's not right in any way now is it? Nope..oh waiter bring me a double of what ever you got.
The waiter comes to take our food order, she's got to go to the bathroom again. When I say well she just went so she can hold on here comes the kicking of the feet and the red face and the loud crying. I cringe...Oh hell no she's not going to make this table THAT TABLE. We all know the one.
So, through out dinner, any time I would try to enjoy my food, my...coke...or talk with DH or SS7 she had to pee. I've seen infants with better bladder control. Finally, I asked for a box and waited outside for DH to pay and come one cause I got real tired of being in that bathroom
As soon as we hit the mall, yep you guessed it; she had to pee again.
MARTHA FOCKER COME ON!!!
She only had to pee when I was looking at something, talking to a sales man, or once when I was trying something on.
Oh...and only once did she actually use the bathroom. The rest of the times she would sit on the toilet and sing. She can't carry a tune, and I got some dirty looks from women in line who really did have to go to the bathroom.
Finally I had enough.
dPPP hurry up now.
No...lousy singing
Ok, bye. I'll be over at the purses right outside the door.
I feel horrible for the other ladies that were in there. I could here her royal heiness bellowing all the way to the jewelry counter. And so could DH.
You left her in there alone?
I'm right here, as soon as she walks out the door I will see her and lead her back to you.
She's scared in there.
No she's not, she's not even using the bathroom. She just wants to be a pain in the ass. I'm sorry but my idea of a fun time isn't visiting every single public bathroom oh the west side of town. She's 6, she can use the damn bathroom by herself. Especially when she just wants to sit in there and sing. You think her singing is cute...I don't. You go stand in a bathroom all the live long day with her then. I'll meet you at the car.
I relaxed finally, in my little car for about 20 minutes before they came out. It was time to get them home then. AFter every one got in the car and we headed off there went dPPP singing again. Oh the sound of nails on a chalk board doesn't come close to describing her shrill little voice. I turned up 5 finger death punch so lound that if finally drowned out the sound. At least three of us were happy then.

Absolutely no reason your DH can't walk her to the bathroom and wait outside the door for her. She wipes her own ass, doesn't she? Why does he think YOU need to take her?

DH needs to take her potty if he thinks she can't go alone.

Singing in the car can really get on my nerves, and sometimes it doesn't. For the longest time, I didn't know how to nicely shut down either my BD or SD (she sings just quiet/loud enough that I can barely, yet clearly hear), but I came up with the best way, without hurting feelings or sounding too bitchy...if I can't take it, I will politely say "Let's practice our lip synching." seems to work pretty well.

I've asked him, but she gets "to scared" if someone isn't in the bathroom with her. Well, mommy and daddy can't take her to pee in school. I told him I was done.

If he was single, what would he do? If you had not gone, what would he do?

You told her you were leaving the bathroom and she continued to sing. Scared, my ass. That little 6 year old is playing everybody.

Okay. No way I would take a child, any child, to the bathroom that many times in that short a period. DH needs to take her, stand outside the door until she is done. After the second time, he should of had a talk with her. She didn't have to go and was just doing it to annoy you. He should of called her on it.

Just tell her to stop singing already.

My SD is also 6 and I always have to take her to the bathroom when we're out somewhere because she can't possibly go on her own. After reading this and all the comments, I've decided I'm done with this little task too.

I don't think I went that much when I was 9 months along. I kept telling him she was just sitting in there singing and I guess he thought I was mistaken.

And I'm wondering why Dad WASN'T wondering those things! Going to the bathroom that many times should have raised some parental red flags.

Actually, men are usually pretty good about "allowing" girls to use the restroom (and waiting outside). I've even had men allow ME to use the men's room when the ladies' was occupied, and offer to stand outside and tell other guys to wait. So Dad probably could have taken SD to the men's room and it wouldn't have been a big deal.

My personal opinion, it's a hobby of dPPP. How many public toilets can I sit and sing on in one day. I swear, her singing is like nails on a chalk board and I understood every dirty look I got.
