"I Never Said That" (General Rant About Men's Selective Memory)

thinkthrice's picture

So today I reminded Chef that he said several years back:

"I'm sooooo glad that the BM doesn't keep dragging me back to court like all those OTHER fathers!"

My response at the time was: "She couldn't take you back to court; you are already paying WAAAY over the max voluntarily"

Well Chef said "I never said that--you are imagining things again!"

This came up when I reminded Chef that the attorney told him he SHOULD have NEVER set a precedent for overpaying and should have cut her off at the pass WAAAAYYY back when. Now he says basically "water under the bridge." When I used to tell him for YEARS back in the early days that he should NOT let the BM take advantage this way; to which I was "hand waved" off.

Don't you just WISH you had a camera and microphone going at all times to record and then play back some of the STooPID things they say constantly???!!

I guess it's THAT hard to admit that SM was RIGHT AFTER ALL!!

Chef is not a texter either. In recent years, I found out he is BARELY proficient with the English language having been spoiled as a child. He claims a love of books. I've never seen him read through one book in over ten years. I have asked him to read and he can barely sound coherent.

He has a vocabulary of about 15 words, ten of which are vile curse words.

Same here. He genuinely does not remember a damn thing. I do. I'll remember what you were wearing the day you said x to me.

Revisionist history, oh yes! I've heard some serious fiction fall from my DH's lips. And when I correct him? "Why do you have to be so negative?"

Every man I have ever known has done this. Forget what they said 10.5 seconds after saying it. Sometimes less. It must be a side effect of testosterone poisoning. ; )
