F-SD nominates me

newstepmomof3's picture

F-SD13 loves that her Dad nominated her publicly on facbook for the ALS ice bucket challenge and she snidely nominated me and only me. (probably because I wouldn't take her school clothes shopping when her mother said it was my job now)

I'm a good sport. Smile I'll make a donation and meet the challenge with a unique water bucket video (any ideas folks?!)

But theres this sick part of me that wants to smile just as snarky and nominate her mother who I've never even met. However, don't think that would go over well... Wink Wink

I'm laughing tonight...

I'd ignore it. I'm not her friend. She doesn't get to goad me into pain. She doesn't tell me where to send money. That charity is so loaded with money now because of these challenges your money would be a drop in the ocean. Don't misunderstand me - good for them - but if you got money to spare there are plenty of charities going short because of money diverted in that direction.

And I don't care what snide remark she may come up with once she figures out I'm not responding to her. Why are you looking at her Facebook page anyway? Block her from yours and don't go to hers.

Being "liked" on Facebook is like sitting at the "cool" table in the insane asylum.

I never saw her Facebook. She posted under her dad's post and I can see it because of her settings. The world is changing though... It s not good to be fearful of technology or social media. At that's my opinion. Kids and adults need to learn to use it responsibly and I don't think it's a bad thing to interact with it. I'd almost rather she did that than text me.

The Test of Reasonableness. The Smell Test. Does it ring of credibility? Would a reasonable and rational human being buy it?

Use your head rather than your emotions. Not happening. Not in this country anyway. Stem Cells can be sourced from many other origins than embryos.

I smell nothing that lends this any credibility at all.

Thanks for playing.

Well, come on, before disposing of the baby just for their stem cells, grab an eye ball or ears or something. You never know when those items might be needed. Then there is the whole Soulient Green (sp) aspect that could be utilized. Waste mot want not.

WHAT???? ...ok, now I have heard it all. Plus there are aliens living under ground in a train system. I heard this from a reliable source. (BM)

bleh..... :jawdrop:

And I love the idea of challenging BM. Awesome. My company just did the challenge this morning. Freckin cold!!!!

Lol I never realized that I'd get this many posts about ALS or whether or not to do it. Sorry if the topic got into some drama. I'm honestly a live and let live person so I didn't even guess anyone would have an issue with it. Anyway, with that being said if anyone has any bucket challenge ideas that are unique, lol.

I agree with this!

I am kind of "over" the videos of the kids doing the challenge just to do the challenge so that they can be on social media.

Sick of the teenage girls doing it in their bathing suits. Not even mentioning what the purpose of it is.

And the fact of people doing the water challenge and not even donating money.... what is the purpose?

Initially to raise awareness... I get that... but to me and what I have seen it has turned into people doing it just to get water dunked on them and to have it on social media....

i wouldnt do it.

my take on this is i prefer to donate money to charities and causes that i support. some of these charities are not in line with my personal beliefs.

a fair amount of ALS research utilizes embryonic stem cells for example. that's just not something i personally support.

a lot of people have issues with Susan G Komen foundation, for example.

Doesnt mean i dont support a cure for ALS or that those who are against SGK don't support a cure for breast cancer.

Thia, do you also believe that the earth is flat and the US government created the AIDS virus? Cuz I could find a bunch of articles on the internet that say so.

Duh
