SS17 graduates June 1st, turns 18 July 31st….Hubby just got home and grabbed the mail, and guess what was in there? YUP, the emancipation papers! WOO! And he overpaid, so it will stop mid June! Now, I understand supporting your kids and all but I am so happy for my husband!!! Been 12 years! Doing the happy dance! (And thanks for "biting")

I have a huge Green-Monster of Envy sitting on my shoulders! What a wonderful feeling that must be!

yes, you give the graduation date some other info and mail it back to CSEA. It is the first step to the end of paying child support!!

I just read this to DF, then tossed a pillow at him.

SD16 will be 17 next month. She lives in a state where CS ends st 18. If DF had not made a dumb choice (marrying the crazy BM after he broke up with the good BM) CS would be ending next year.

Instead, he's stuck in paying CS for SDs 9&6 (7 next month). Did I mention we live in a state where CS ends at 21? So instead of CS ending in 12 months, he's on the hook for 14 more years.

That burns me. They will suck a father dry for CS, but if the mom gets overpaid, it's tough luck, daddy-o!

CONGRATS! That paper is such a sight for SORE eyes!

First time it came, DR lied and said since order wasn't allocated, OH would pay same for 2 as 1…our attorney straightened it out. We think BM has friends in there.

My OH signed a paper 11 years ago saying he would insure SS22 until he was OUT of college. Even though he had EXCELLENT coverage of his own, crazy psycho BM said, Let's screw him, so yep. We were in court twice last year and the judge gave mommy and sonny what they wanted. Oh well. Now let's see how long it takes him to graduate college…can you say forever?!

Same here. BM or her husband haven't worked for almost 7 years. When DH was paying for 2, it was enough for them to live on, so he was supporting them. When SD turned 18, CS was cut in half so in addition to my husbands contribution, her husband was getting 1200 a month from his parents to pay for house and utilities, etc… I guess he'll need to be calling mommy and daddy asking for more money to make up for the loss of the CS! They make my skin crawl!!! Good luck and don't be afraid to yourself first sometimes. Nothing wrong with that!

so actually this brings up a question for me.

do you have to get some sort of official paperwork from either the court sending it or you requesting it? my fiance assumed taht he could simply stop paying CS once SD13 reaches the magic age (sucks for us, its 19 unless she goes to college FT, then its 23) because the court order clearly spells out when it stops/ends.

In most states, you have to have it officially terminated through the court. Google "child support termination" for your state. I would not suggest he just stop paying!

We downloaded a form, had BM served, had to wait for her to NOT respond (she could have just signed the damn thing but she's a bitch) and then we received the official notice that CS was terminated.

We didn't have to do anything where I live…When SD turned 18 we were mailed a letter also. Stating what date it would end and what the new amount would be for 1 kid. DH had to fill out one paper with graduation date on it, some other info, sign it and mail it back. That was it. This time same thing but in capital letters it said EMANCIPATION across the top and talked about how he had overpaid 711.00 so it would stop sooner than graduation or birth date. Have to fill out same paper about graduation, etc…mail back.

We are feeling pretty fortunate compared to some of the stories from other states!!! Oh my! Good luck to everybody!

Fragile! ha! The good news is, soon you'll have that disconnect. And they don't give up anymore like they did back in the day. It will catch up to her. May take a long time but they will. Could be from having a tail light out in her car…that's what happened to my ex brother in law! My nephew was receiving CS until he was 31! Even if you never see another dime, knowing that she will be busted would make my day!!! LOL
