Disengaging success

I think disengaging is working.....or maybe it was just the "Easter spirit", but my SS10 actually legitimately gave me a hug before he left today to back to his mom's. We were at my husband's family event. My mother-in-law told him to give me a kiss (which I just think is weird. I never -and wouldn't- kiss my stepson.) I pretended to not hear what was going on so he didn't feel obligated to show affection toward me. Then someone said "Give your brother a hug" which I was holding our son (his brother). So I handed him over to my husband in case they really made my stepson hug his brother. He did hug his brother and then he came up behind me and gave me a hug.

It was the least half-assed "good-bye" that I've gotten from him in months and months. Normally, when someone tells him to tell me bye, he picks up his backpack (and whatever else he brought with him to our house) and says his hands are too full or he grunts and half-ass waves at me from across the room.

Hope the momentum of disengaging lasts.
