My bio kids rock

SituationalTourettes's picture

Anyone ever feel secretly super proud when your bio kid does something that truly shows what a wonderful person they are growing up to be and they end up making the skids look lousy in comparison?

My 3 kids were asked by my FDH to make handmade cards for his grandmother who is turning like 90. They were more than happy to. My BS16 even wrote her an original poem and using his computer, translated it into her native language. He helped his sisters do similar translations on their own cards. They did it without hesitation and were very proud with the results.

The two skids were home from school the same day mine were (thank you, polar vortex) and didn't do a damn thing. They admitted they didn't feel like it. This is their blood great grandmother who gives them money every time she sees them yet they can't scribble a few lines on a piece of folded paper? FDH was pissed.

Very proud of my kids. It's a small thing but this is how my kids are. Loving, thoughtful and considerate. I'm so blessed Smile

I know what you mean.

I don't have bios but my 11 year old niece is, by far, more mature and smarter, than my 22 year old SD. Niece11 has a kick ass personality, while SD22 cannot hold a conversation, as she knows nothing about anything. It's sad, really.

My niece feels bad because she doesn't have any money to get me a birthday present and she hasn't had a chance to make anything yet (she's very creative). SD came over last Saturday to get her and her kids' Christmas presents and does not even think to give us so much as a card.

Oh yes! I can't be too proud around my hubby because even he sees just how much of a difference there is, and I can see it hurts him that his kids are not on the same level as my son. So I do a soft woohoo when he's around, and a giant yippee when it's just me and my son or someone else. Even my son sees there's a difference in what he achieves, versus the skids, so he's pretty considerate too.

It's too bad, really, because they are OFFERED the same opportunities, but bio mom interferes and skids have her sucky attitude towards life that everyone else is to blame. I will NEVER understand that. Because I am a bio mom, too, so I just don't get the sick bio mom's that hold their kids back.

I agree with Luckymom...being exposed to Sd14 makes me so appreciate my kids more. My bios have such good natures and all excelled academically. I know I didn't do such a bangup job as a parent but I tried the best I knew how and I was so lucky I had good kids who grew up great anyways!!!LOL
