AWESOME EASY RECIPE FOR CHICKEN THAT TASTES LIKE FRIED, BUT IS LOW FAT!!!

As most of you know, I'm more of a savoury gal. I can forget about a bar of chocolate in the kitchen for so long that it has gone out of date by the time I remember it's there. (don't judge me, my cupboards are big lol)

Ok so. I love savoury stuff. Especially fried chicken, nommm. Well here's the recipe for "fake" fried chicken lol!!!

Mix these things in a big bowl:

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 teaspoon paprika powder

Dip small pieces of raw chicken into the mixture and place them onto a tray.

Put in oven for 45 minutes, turning halfway through.

I don't really have that much to report this week but on a deeper level might also be avoiding talking about stuff LOL! Make of that what you will, but however you take it, I hope you guys can try the recipe if you can lol x

So how's everyone else doing?!! Any recipes? Biggrin

I'm doing good on my diet this week! Day 2. No cheating. Salads and chicken. Still not off the diet soda but tomorrow I may be ready for that.

sunny_skies's picture

Hey good job! But I personally would still allow a few treats or "cheats" in with your diet, even if it's just once a week/something to look forward to.

Then in the long run you'll be happier and more likely to continue with your healthy eating plan.

I've heard so many times that it's a good idea to be an angel all week, then eat what the heck you want at the weekend! I love that x

Hey nowire,

I felt really bad for the first week or so when I got off the diet soda. It really wanted me back. I started drinking Perrier and that seemed to help a little with my craving for a "fizzy" drink. Good luck!

Met with the Kaiser Permanente nutritionist. Brought my info on the "hyperhomocysteinemia" (inability to process B6/B12) and my allergy results. Explained that I was looking for help developing healthy eating menus around these food and health issues.

I was given a few printouts on smoothies. I was referred to the KP website for links to healthy eating. I was told to eat 3 meals a day and maybe a snack. I was told to watch my portion size. I was told to substitute side salads for fries when I eat out. I was told to eat whole wheat rather than white bread. I was told to not eat everything when I eat out, but to try to bring home leftovers due to oversizing. I was referred to a 12 week class on healthy eating for people with heart disease, diabetes and those who are facing bariatric surgery. I was shown the government food triangle and a laminated oval that shows portion % on a dinner plate.

No sample menus. No book or diet recommendations. Nothing designed for the cooking-challenged, menopausal, plump woman that I am. She did agree that I am overweight and on the cusp of obese. Thanks.

So, in other words, I was told nothing new. I left feeling as if I had lost an hour of my life that I will never get back.

I did read a saying that made me laugh: "Some people consider their body, a temple. I consider my body more of a bouncy castle."

Aw indigo, how disappointing :/ I do love the bouncy castle saying though, lol! We've got to keep that sense of humour going right! (hugs)

I'm eating a cheeseburger with some asparagus. I feel fat and ugly so I got a burger. Better than the FRIENDS fish I really wanted... Sad

sunny_skies's picture

Aniki, look on the bright side, at least you had your burger with asparagus and not fries, lol!

I can sympathise and totally relate to the "I feel fat and ugly, give me burger" feeling Sad

Don't beat yourself up about it, or you'll end up feeling even worse. Get back on the horse and keep on keeping on!

We can do it together (((hugs)))

No!!!!!! I can some times eat a chicken thigh - but the breast is just too dry and disgusting. Smile

Echo I like you and agree with you on everything but chicken breasts. Smile

I never have because I have zero willpower. I'd need someone following me around smacking the bad foods out of my hands. I saw some diet thing at Walmart and laughed my fat a$$ off. The food in that box is supposed to last 5 days. Riiiiiiight. I'd eat the contents in 2. Can someone wire my mouth closed? :?

I used to do it. I lost 25 pounds on it and kept it off for the last 4 years. I did gain about 8 back recently because I haven't been working out and eating as well as I should. I just started using it again this week. Good luck!

hey sunny, have you tried italian lentil soup?

it is sooo good, soooo easy, and extremely healthy.

i'll toss dried lentils in the crock pot, with enough water or preferably stock as needed per directions on the bag. you may have to add more water as it cooks down, just keep an eye on it.

i also add a couple links of (cooked) ground hot italian sausage (removed from the casing and crumbled), just dont go overboard - and make sure to squeeze it to death with a paper towel to remove as much grease as possible.

you can throw in onions, garlic, oregano, basil, cubed or shredded carrots, squash, turnip, spinach, chopped tomato - anything like that, that you might have on hand.

let it cook all day, keeping an eye on the moisture level to make sure it's still SOUP! serve nice and hot with a good, dark whole grain bread (i like rye).

enjoy!

why, parmesan or pecorino, of course! but i left it out of this recipe for sunny for the fat/salt factor, esp. since there's already sausage in there (which is absolutely necessary for this soup).

Jeez, Jasper, I should have had YOU move the TV. Then I wouldn't have a mild concussion. I need a bubble-wrap suit. Well, a helmet...

Aniki-Moderator's picture

BOOBS OUT!

That should have been my motto. Had I balanced the boob tube on my boobs, it wouldn't have had room to fall back and smack me when I moved it.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

I was a boob for not using my boobs... And yes. A boob per eye to keep them focused. And some women...

Aniki-Moderator's picture

:jawdrop: :jawdrop:

A jawdrop for each boob. I like my boobs!! I'd rather have some fat lipo'd than get rid of my boobs. Then again, I had my shortened because they were ginormous and think they are perfect. IMHO. My DH is a leg man and butt man, but he thinks mine are perfect.

Tuff Noogies's picture

i live by the motto "more than a mouthful or handful is wasteful."

that's my story and i'm sticking to it!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

You only TALKED about it? Pffffft. I would have done it! 'Ho has asked my DH to ask me to be home so the skids can come over when he's not able to get home soon enough to suit her. My response every single time? "Sorry honey, but I have plans with ...(insert name of ANY freaking person under the sun!)".

sunny_skies's picture

Lol Omigosh I just signed into ST and realised this blog has blown up with comments, lol!

Tuff, I haven't tried that soup, but it sounds *really* good, Thankyou so much for sharing the recipe!

Jasper, you are doing so great!!! I'm so impressed! I'm sorry you're having frustration with the kids :/

Btw, I'm not even going there with the boob thing LOL! Since I gained so much weight under wire bras are NOT my friend, too uncomfortable, I stick with the extremely 'unsexy' stretchy ones LOL

I love you guys x

Aniki-Moderator's picture

If I could get away with it, I'd go braless and only wear those "petals" over the nips. I loathe boob bondage.

Sally, I need to go back on the hot wing, popcorn, and light beer diet. I dropped 20 pounds in 2 months.
