We feel vindicated!!

Since BM is mentally ill, she receives disabilty for it, and we (used) to receive benefits for the SD's instead of child support. It wasnt much, but it was better than nothing! SD18 has been living with BM for a year now, since that time has met some much older loser who has knocked her up. Great. Anyway, we have to account for every penny spent on the disability for the girls. We can only spend it on them, of course. Or, their needs. When SD18 moved out, she still had 4 months until her benfits were cut off. We put that money in an account and told her we would pay some of her tuition with it if she went to college (this of course never happened). So the money sat there in an account drawing interest. At the end of the year, we sent her a check for the amount the social security office "thought" we owed her. Fine, do the right thing...... So last month, SD18 decided that isnt enough money and reports us for misuse of her funds. I was livid, still am to some extent. So, this meant us having to take every receipt we have had for the last 5 years and bank statements, cancelled checks, etc.(which cost $400 to get copies of from our bank, by the way)down to the social security office to have some paper pusher tell us that we DID NOTHING WRONG!!!! Yipee, we passed. He did say that we should NOT have paid her any of the money we had left since we had spend over 14,000 on her in 4 1/2 yrs, which fully exceeded what they had paid us in benefits.

I wish I could tell her how I feel, but she wont speak to us. Boy I loose sleep over that one Smile . I feel great, I knew we had done nothing wrong, but it was still the point of it all. Ya know.
