Glasses, video, and one teary eyed momma!

As some may know my dd18 is in college. She got a full ride scholarship and made the deans list. She also has a part time job. However we have had this on going issue that for some reason my dd seems to think and assume that mom will pay for everything she wants and needs. She doesn't ask she just expects.

So anyway she calls me up a few weeks ago and said she needs new glasses as she stepped on hers and wanted to me to set the apt and expected me to pay. There was no asking just her telling. I was NOT a happy momma! I told her no but she needed to get an apt herself. Well she has been sending several text since then about her glasses and I keep telling her to make an apt and get it done.

So last night she sent another that I ignored b/c she has already been told! She calls me today to say that she was sorry that she mean for the the text to sound like she expect me to pay and in fact she was trying to find a way to pay for the glasses herself. However she doesn;t have any money left b/c her books were almost 1k this semester. :jawdrop: And by the time she fixed her tire and put gas in her car to get to work she had nothing left.

Then she told me she saw that video of the dad that shot his dd lap top and she thought he did a good job and wished more parents would be more like him. She said she got very upset with the ones that thought he was mean and told them that his dd should be lucky to have a dad that cared that much! Then she said that she is a freshmen in college she is of this generation and she was way out of line. she also said that she did something similar but not near that bad and she got in major trouble and thanks god every day that her mom went commando on her butt.

There was more that she said but I cut it short anyway she made me tear up. Never been so proud and I do believe she understand now that she shouldn't expect momma to foot the bill for everything! I did tell her I would pay for her glasses. Smile

Sounds like you did a great job as a Mom and raised a very respectful daughter. Good job Mom.

Good job...I pay for BS contacts and glasses. Same type of kid and I kind of expect to continue through college. Along the lines of the car insurance. As long as he has school covered with his 4.0 I figure I can do that much...

Sounds like a good kid, but still needed a kick in the pants...They all do once in awhile.

Way to stand your ground on the glasses mom. Wink Wink

You should be very proud of your daughter.

Btw, I would have caved on the glasses too.

Lol rags love it. I know I caved but I really think she understands that I don't have to pay for anything . I am really proud of her for her grades and having a job and being as responsible as she is for her age. Thank s
