After reading Tuff Noogies and Fire_Inside blog’s yesterday, they got me thinking about my relationship with DH and how we love each other but sometimes we get stuck in the monotony of everyday life.

So since I had to stop at the grocery yesterday, I bought him a little card and a 6 pack of Blue Moon and left him a sticky note saying “I love you to the moon and back”.

This morning I got to work and he had left me a very sweet voicemail on my desk phone and stopped by the office with a pumpkin spice latte on his way in to work. Smile Smile Smile

Pretty awesome!

awww poka how sweet!!! those little things really do mean alot in a marriage to keep the warm-fuzzies.

i think of it like a well-loved garden. sometimes you do big things, like cultivating and tilling the soil. sometimes you do medium things, like fertilizing and mulching. sometimes you do small things, like deadheading and weeding, tasks that are always ongoing, but not time-consuming if u do a bit at a time. but it's your garden, you love it, and are happy to put forth the effort to care for it.

those little tokens, the card/beer, coffee, sweet sentiments- those should always be ongoing and a bit at a time.

it's so easy to get into a routine or rut and those little things fall by the wayside. it takes continual effort- not laborious, exhausting work, but effort cuz u love eachother and want to care for eachother.

It’s good to have little surprises for each other. I love to randomly get DH his favorite candy and give him a surprise back rub while watching TV. While I was at drill over the weekend he did the sweetest thing for me. I was having a horrible and aggravated 4 day drill. I was stuck on post sleeping in the barracks, and each day running a range. I was bruised up, in pain, nearly dehydrated myself and was sick. Sunday was our last day we had planned for DH to come by the barracks at 5:30 am to pick up my gear so I didn’t have to carry it all back to the armory. When he arrived he brought me a big cup of coffee, made just the way I like it! The cafeteria hadn’t been fixing coffee in the mornings (and if they had it would have been really nasty). That just made my entire day a little bit better. On Monday (which was my day off from work) he let me sleep in while he cleaned up the house!

HEY - let's make today "sweetheart wednesdays" like we have BIOT's and Eff of Fridays. we can all post something we did or plan to do to/for our dh's simply just because.

ETA - how 'bout Huggy Hump-Day, cuz each gesture is like a hug in action

huggy humpday to you - you need to do something for YOURSELF today. what's it gonna be? maybe a new flowerpot for the porch of your cottage?

My SO is leaving work early tonight and we are going to hang out at home, have ballpark hot dogs, beer (lots of beer), peanuts and watch the Royals beat the Giants AGAIN! We go out to dinner (or do pick ups) a lot during the week, because neither of us likes to cook when we get home and he works usually later than me, so this is kinda like a 'date night' for us!
