DW had a good one yesterday
For those of you who haven't read my blogs, I am a step-dad with a SD17 living with me and DW. I recently made the decision to disengage, and things have improved a good bit in the household. One thing that I used to do, prior to disengagement, was pick up my SD17's room, since she never picks it up, and because it pissed her off when I cleaned it, since I was "messing" with "her stuff." However, on the advice of fellow boardmembers, I stopped picking up SD17's room. Although I do not like her room looking like a garbage dump, it is more important not to be a "resource" for her, thereby allowing her to get away with being lazy and uncooperative.
Yesterday, I found out that I will be going out of town for work for an extended period of time. DW made the following comment:
"Before you go, could you pick up SD17's room? I kind of got used to it not looking like shit. But when you do it, make sure you put stuff where SD17 can find it, so she won't get mad."
L - O - freaking L!!!! I almost shit myself when she made that request. Just to address each point:
1. No, I will not pick up SD17's room. That is not my responsibility. I have disengaged so that I will not longer help enable her lazy behavior.
2. If you don't like SD17's room looking like shit, maybe you should have SD17 clean it. Or clean it yourself. Not my problem anymore.
3. Even if I did clean it, I would clean it the way that **I** see fit. I am not going to do things a certain way to make sure it is to SD17's liking. I would do what was logical, and if SD17 didn't like it, too bad.
Needless to say, I will not be cleaning the room.

Yes, I would clean a 17 yr. olds room for her... if she was in a wheelchair paralyzed from the neck down.
Good for you Paul! I hate
Good for you Paul! I hate seeing my SS18's room messy too. But yesterday, after he left for school, I walked in and blew a gasket. I took all the clothes he had laying around and threw it all in the middle of the floor. I then sent him a text that said "If your room is a mess when I get home I will throw EVERYTHING that is out of place in the trash." Needless to say, I came home and the room was clean. Worked like a charm. Stick to your guns. The nerve of your wife to ask you to clean up after her kid! OMG!
Is she on drugs? What a
Is she on drugs? What a stupid request.

hahah that's funny! I think your DW is smoking crack. Good job on your stance!
Speaking of SS's and rooms...My SS couldn't find is hat yesterday which he needed for an outdoor field trip. I knew exactly where it was in his room because I often go in there (he shares room with BS) and ensure room is clean but of course to tuck in at night...I had laid folded, clean clothes on top of it the day before... When SS said "I don't know where it's aaaaat!" when I asked him about it, I walked into his room, lifted a pant leg 2 inches off the bed and grabbed the hat. Why are they so freakin' clueless and can't remember where they leave jack sh!t?
DW is guilty beyond repair!!
DW is guilty beyond repair!! Don't think she'll EVER get it. Maybe you should substitute DW for DS (dipshit)
To DW: "I received your note about wanting me to clean SD's room. I care too much for SD to continue to do this. I have discontinued enabling her and enabling your inconsistent parenting practices.
Continuing to do things for her at this stage would be tantamount to crippling her for life. Thanking you again for your cooperation in this matter"

I remember once being "spoken
I remember once being "spoken to" about SS11's bed and how I wasn't making it correctly. All of a sudden SS11 started to chime in too. Um - hello?! Am I the effing maid? A lightbulb went off in my head. I waited until each of them were done and said quietly and calmly," I know how to fix this. (Looking directly at SS11). Make your own bed!" The two shut up so fast I smiled and left the room. It was awesome. To this day - I haven't made the bed. Eff that, man. I am not the maid. I adore my SS11 and this was just one minor moment he had but I wanted to share so that you know you aren't alone!

Wow. I can't believe your wife said that. You should record it and play it back so she can hear herself. I hope you declined this opportunity, LOL..
