Well BM proved me wrong.

She wasn't back in jail by the end of the weekend (December). She went to jail this last weekend. For DUI. Third. High. It's a felony in this state. Plus she left the scene of accident (luckily it was just property damage and no one was hurt). She didn't have the baby with her which is another plus. Her husband was angry that she was out drinking so he took the baby and left.

I had contact with him for a short time around the holidays. We offered to let them come and stay with us (he and the baby) because he's scared of her, he's illegal and he's afraid for the safety of his son. He declined but said he would stop by at Christmas time so the kids could see their brother. He didn't and they were heartbroken. He's 7 months old now and they haven't seen him for more than half of his life because of their mom's drinking. It's terribly sad.

I stopped hating BM, I just want her to go away at this point. We filed the motion for termination of parental rights and had our first meeting with the GAL last night. It's not even that I want her to go away, I want her to get sober or disappear. That's it. I can't watch the kids go through this anymore. She got a court appointed attorney (of course) and we have to pay ours (of course). And she will appeal, and appeal and appeal I am sure and it will take years to get through the system but as long as all of this is pending, she doesn't have any ability to get visitation, so I guess that may be a plus.

Oh well, I guess I need to take a deep breath and hold on. I love the kids and they love me and my husband is amazing so in that respect I don't regret the step thing at all, but man there needs to be a limit to what BM can do.

I was just reading yours! Our BM hasn't done anything like that in a while so I also feel your pain and yes your husband was smart to drive away!
