The huge paint chip

buttercookie's picture

I discussed the excessive car washing with my husband and he agrees that Oldest SS won't be washing his car here every other day. In the beginning Husband automatically said "I'll tell him he you don't want him washing his car here at all" I told husband that's fine if thats what he wants to do but that is not what I said. I told him that is making me out to be the bad guy and he's trying to send me on a guilt trip, fine by me. I told him that I don't care about being the bad guy to his kids because no matter what I always will be and I know that and as far as the guilt trip, I'm not going on that. I proceeded to tell him if he acted like an adult he'd realize it was the frequency of the washes that was the issue not who was doing them. He apologized a few minutes later and we went on with life,

until....
Oldest SS tears into the driveway in his mustang like he's on the run from the law for moonshining or something, dashes in the house to show us this huge paint chip that he took to FORD screaming at them for and they won't fix. Ok we go outside to have a look, This thing isn't visible until SS puts his finger right next to it and we walk to just the right light to see it. Ok I see it so I go in the garage, grab a shamee and walk up to the car, I lightly rub the spot and it disappears. I look at SS and say "I fixed it at no charge" (it was wax he didn't get wiped all the way off}and I go back in the house. Husband comes in a few minutes later and says its just because oldest SS is proud of something he bought. I tell Husband that its cool he's proud of something but he's obsessive over the car and that he made an ass out of himself at Ford over this. I then told Husband to never ask me why I make sure everyone knows his kids are my STEPs because oldest SS just gave another valid reason why I'd never claim his as my own.

I just have to laugh a little. What exactly was the look on your skids face when smom fixed his issue he was having heart failure over?

Boys never grow up, their toys just get more expensive, isn't that the old saying?

He looked shocked because I also handed him the shamee when I said it. His mouth was open so wide I'm glad the weather is to cold for flys

Buttercookie - I know this is not what you want to hear but it is his first big purchase and I think you said it was a Mustang which is every young boy's dream - and yes he is being a bit obsessive about his car but he is proud of it and yes he made an ass of himself - but I bet the next time he will know to take the cloth and wipe the car better - I would not let him wash the car every other day - if he wants it that clean he can go to one of those car washes that allow you to wash it and I think it costs $3.00 - but we as women can not understand the man and his car -

I know this past August I bought myself a BMW and when I had my old car I never really washed it or took care of it but once I got this car - I went out bought the Armour All wipes, took it to the car wash once a week, really made sure that the car looks great and clean all the time - I actually just had major surgery 5 weeks ago and it was really nice where we live a couple of days ago and I have not been able to drive for the past 5 weeks but I was outside on this day and I was cleaning that car because I can't take it to the car wash - also when I first got it I bought these really great rags and when it rained I would pull into the garage and wipe the car down so no raindrops would dry on the car and leave splotches - now I am a 43 year old woman doing this - not quite sure how old SS he is but he is a young man and he loves his car. He just needs to love it away from your house!! lol

Just give him time and it will soon not be so new but he probably will treat it like his baby for a long time!!!

Ok I give him it's his new dream car but he was like this with his last truck and the truck before. It just got more obsessive when he jumped to the mustang and if he wants to excessively wash it he can pay to do it somewhere else. If he wants to make an ass out of himself he can do that all he wants for free, I posted this because I thought it was so funny and I figured I'd share how stupid some of these skids are. Luckily oldest SS is a really good kid outside of this OCD car thing

added: Oh and I'm picky about how clean my car is so yes I understand to an extent, but I'm not going to lose sleep over the weather report (its winter) or have a coronary if a bird flies by.
