Stopping in to say Hello and offer some support. It's been awhile!

Hey step-peeps!  I've been a member for a number of years, but have been absent for quite some time.  I'm not sure what impressed me to sign in today, but reading through some of what sounds so very familiar to me I wanted to take a minute to offer some encouragement and hope.

I have nearly 18 years of step-life under my belt.  My story is detailed (perhaps too detailed in some cases) in my past blogs, but the very short version is:

Our family is struggling with a drug addict BM

While I was once a very active member here, that was in some of our darkest years. Thankfully, we've been able to reconcile our broken relationships with my SS & SD & continue to grow closer & closer to them again.

That said, their relationships with BM are crumbling. She's a pill addict & has been for nearly 8 years, as far as we're aware. I know that years before that, toward the end of her marriage with DH, she was using cocaine.

BM is taking a sad solo trip down memory lane...LOL!

Along with the "thing" she has for Family Dollar cherubs, angels & carousel horses, BM has a thing about dedicating music to get her messages across to the FB world.

While on her mission to brainwash SD & SS a couple of years ago, she publicly dedicated Eminem's "Mockingbird" to SD & SS on FB & tagged them in it for all of their friends to see. Last night, she "liked" her dedication. (She had to sift through A LOT of old crap to find it.)

OT: Question regarding FAFSA application for SS

stormabruin's picture

I'm not sure if anyone here knows the answer to this, but my SS is trying to get things situated to start classes at a business college this year.

Anyone familiar with our situation knows that is something HUGE for him. He's muddling through this registration a piece at a time. He's taken the placement test. He has a class schedule. The only hang-up he has with the process at this point is getting his FAFSA filed.

It's no secret, BM is a freaking nut. She's a stay-home-work-the-system yahoo, completely off her trolley.

A year later...(This is a long read)

So, Steptalk has had to take a backseat for awhile, as my workload doubled when our accountant left at the beginning of the year. It's quiet here for another 15 minutes so I figured I'd take the opportunity to check in.

Looking back at my blogs, the last post I made regarding my steplife was over a year ago...08/26/13, just after my sweet MIL passed away.

O/T: Anyone have experience with Verizon's Voice Link service in place of phone lines?

stormabruin's picture

We live in the boonies. Every year, this time of year, we have to place a service call on our phone lines/box.

Apparently, when it gets cold & wet outside, the mice find phone boxes the place to go & nest.

So, when we start hearing the familiar irritating non-stop "buzzzzzzzzzzz...." on our landline, we call for service.

I placed this call this morning. Instead of the usual "Take a corded phone across the field to your phone box & plug it in to see if it works...." speal, I get a pitch (or rather a PUSH) for this Voice Link service.

How can she be expected to provide for her child on a meager $8000/month CS???

She was the caretaker 4% of the time & was pulling $8000. Now that custody is 50/50, clearly she'll need $88,969/month to be able to furnish their son with a more acceptable standard of living. :?

Signs that Parental Alienation is becoming more widely recognized!

stormabruin's picture

I "like" a page on FB called "The Love & Iron Project". They just posted this link on their page. Though my steps are older, with alienation having been such an ordeal for us for so many years, it makes my heart feel good to know that there are people (the person who posted this on Ebay is a victim of Parental Alienation) who are working hard to get the word out & make it known that this is a real issue.
