My husband can't believe we're "doing this to SD8"

I posted awhile ago about how we couldn't decide how to rearrange the rooms in our house to accommodate the new baby who will be arriving in less than a month. Well, in the past week we finally made the decision.

Currently, SD8 and DD3 have rooms beside each other upstairs. After going over a bunch of different scenarios, we decided that the baby and DD3 will need their own rooms, so SD will have to be moved downstairs.

Sometimes my husband can be so clueless.....

My husband was recently telling me about a co-worker of his who moved in with his fiance and her kids a few months ago.

DH: So, I don't think this situation of Bob's is going to last very long. I could see them breaking up pretty soon.

Me: Why?

DH: He's getting so frustrated with her and the kids. I guess he'll try to make rules and stuff and tell the kids what to do, but she won't let him. Like, if the kids misbehave and he comes up with a punishment, she always tells him he can't punish her kids.

Me: You don't say......

According to his CO, my husband gets SD for three uninterrupted weeks every summer. Without checking with me this year, he decided he would only take two weeks off from work and assumed that I'd be fine with watching SD for the third week because I'll be on maternity leave anyway. When he told me about this plan, I told him there is no way I'm taking care of SD while he's at work. She comes to spend time with him, not me. I told him had two options: either take the full three weeks off from work or else only have SD come for two weeks. So he chose to have SD come for two weeks.

SD8 ignored DD3 when we saw her in public

A few weeks ago I went shopping with DD3 in the city that we live near. As we were walking down the main corridor of the mall, I spotted SD8 and BM walking towards us. I've never met BM or been around her, but I've seen pictures of her. I could tell that SD had seen us as well, and she leaned in to BM to say something while looking at us. I'm assuming she was telling BM that she saw me and DD.

DD got really excited and ran over to SD, shouting "SD! Hi SD!"
