i wanted to say Thank you

This might seem strange, but I value the opinions of others. Our conversation about goverment assistance shows that we have a broken system.

I hope how I chose to live my life can benefit my "neighbor". It might be something as simple as a conversation, a thank you, a job I helped to create by something I support.

Above all I have thought of your opinions, which allows me to grow as a person.

So thank you for you political debate and thank you for your input to this board.

maybe because we want to elect senators and congressmen that are more in line with our values and beliefs, and won't just get walked over and agree with everything?

Seriously, this is high school civics.

aggravated1's picture

Is this all you have? Is this your only platform? Confusing.

See, this is what I hate. You can't debate with someone who just keeps on and on and on saying the same thing, and when you give them the reason, they just keep coming back and saying THE SAME THING.

I am sorry you don't understand. I really am.

aggravated1's picture

I was just thinking the same thing....as soon as she threw out the "Republicans gets what the deserve" it was a lost cause.

She acts like Republicans invented filibusters. Umm...Democrats have done it too. Why don't people think before they say shit?

StickAFork's picture

I would imagine that which party had control of the House would affect those numbers, along with other factors.

Sigh. If you thought first, well, then... guess there's no excuse.

aggravated1's picture

How about you go look them up and come back and educate the rest of us? I mean, we already know about them. I don't know why you are in the dark....

aggravated1's picture

hey, are you trying to filibuster me? LOL

I am not doing your research for you. YOU are the one ignorant on the issues, not me.

aggravated1's picture

How do you know I am wrong when YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT??????

Typical. You told me to name them. That would leave me to assume that you don't know what they are. Then you ask ME to look them up for you. Sorry, I am not doing your work. I am doing enough work for the other 51 percent, your 1 percent will have to wait.

aggravated1's picture

I would be willing to talk about them if you knew what they were. I assumed you were well read enough that you knew what I was talking about. I don't have time for a history lesson for you. Someone who truly wanted to debate an issue would make sure they were prepared, I would think. Why would you trust what I told you?

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/23/us/politics/shift-on-executive-powers-...

Here you go, start with this. Exactly what I meant. Too lazy to do your own work, so I have to do it for you. Consider it a gift, along with your health care. You are welcome.

And, by the way, when you get done reading what I have so generously provided for your 52% self, tell me again who avoided debates and votes on the floor?

aggravated1's picture

Did you think I was going to type it all out? WTH??

I'm sorry, I finished college a while back. I see no need to turn in a term paper to an uneducated person to explain my position. That article gave SEVERAL examples...you already brought up Don't ask don't tell. There were MORE, you know...

I am done. I prefer to have intelligent conversations with intelligent people. You are not fitting the bill.

aggravated1's picture

I find it appalling that you are too lazy to go look it up yourself. Shame on you.

You aren't worth my time. I will save my logic for someone who actually understands it. I feel like I am dealing with a tantrum throwing 8 year old at this point.

StickAFork's picture

And?

I guess I'm not seeing your point. Maybe there's been more BS on the floor in recent years.
I think no system is perfect. However, I think it's ridiculous for you to "knock" one party for using something provided for within our governmental structure. :?

Do you get pissy over the number of times Obama has used his Executive Authority to get "his way?" Does that not water down the whole "checks and balances" of our government?

It is shortsighted to pick and choose, imo.

Hey, I'm a red... but I gotta tell you... when my family and FB friends started bitching about Romney winning the popular and losing the electoral and HOW WRONG THAT WAS, I wasted no time pointing out that is EXACTLY how Bush got into office. He LOST the popular, but won the electoral., but these same people weren't bitching then.
Go figure.

aggravated1's picture

Oh, you just want it used for what YOU think it should be used for.

This is classic. I am having a lot of fun with this today. Smile

aggravated1's picture

So?
oh, I get it. You are one of those tit for tat people that like to keep score.

So try this-perhaps your parties views sucked, and the Republicans filibustered to eliminate the potential for more suckage.
Does that make sense to you? probably not.

unsure99's picture

I agree with realmccoy post!! It also pisses me off to no end that MY money, MY money will be spent on abortions!!! I am against abortions with every fiber of my body and now MY money will be paying for them!!!! MY MONEY!!

StickAFork's picture

I dunno. I'm guilty of it, too, though.

I had a friend posting on FB last night about how her conservative friends were all posting horrific, awful things about Obama winning (and how judgemental they were being), and then called them all sorts of names.
Um, hello... pot, meet kettle.

aggravated1's picture

"You do realize then that NOTHING gets voted on and NOTHING gets done?"

So is Obamacare a figment of my imagination? A bad dream? What a relief.
Cause you know, no one voted on it or anything.

aggravated1's picture

oh, so it does happen? People actually vote?

Listening to you, I thought it was like a Bigfoot sighting.

aggravated1's picture

I don't mind debates. I just can't abide stupidity. I am staying off of FB today for that very reason.
DH's kid is 16, dating a 21 year old, and posting insanity such as " If Romney wins we won't have birth control and we all have to be pregnant all the time"
or "We need Obama so we can get abortions paid for when we need them."

unsure99's picture

Lets have this converstation in 4 years after Obama has his next four years and don't have to worry about reelection and see how many he pushes through!!!

aggravated1's picture

maybe Republicans got smarter and decided to stop wasting time on idiocy. Or maybe they just wanted to see how high people could count. }:)

StickAFork's picture

Snickers.
Or I can give them SD19's phone number.

Personally, I want the government to stay out of my uterus. PERIOD. That means don't tell me about abortion, and don't buy my birth control. I'm a big girl. I can handle my own uterus, tyvm!!

StickAFork's picture

Me, too. It's like, ummm, just because I'm a woman doesn't mean there aren't "other" important things to me...you know, like the economy, Obamacare, foreign policy... NOPE, all I care about is free birth control and the right to an abortion.
Yep. That's it.
Grrrr.

aggravated1's picture

Exactly-I am BEYOND insulted that the whole woman's vote was geared to what happens to my uterus. We should all be insulted, but what is even scarier is that morons like my SD believe it.

misSTEP's picture

Can you believe the school kids were believing such rumors that if Romney were elected, he was going to take away tampons and condoms?!? Where in the HELL are the people filling others heads with this crap?!?

12yrstepmonster's picture

It would be nice to find a way to channel these thoughts and find a positive outcome.

In the end we all want the American dream preserved.

When I find out how th do that unwilling run for president!

Meanwhile the goal is to respect the thoughts of others value their input....not everyone is fluent with their words....but learning to listen to a deeper meaning might open our eyes in more ways than one.

I simply say Thank you for the food for thought.

"desire to take back the Presidency over the wellbeing of the country" Wellbeing?? This country is not well when the unemployment rate is high, gas prices are astronomical, national debt is in the trillions, the military (our national defense) hasn't had a budget in over 3 years, more people are dependent on welfare than ever before. If 50% of people wind up on welfare, how can the other 50% be solely responsible for supporting them?

You can't give the entire population free healthcare if people aren't working and paying taxes. The government isn't a money-making business. The money comes from working people paying taxes. Not to mention, imagine the quality of your dialysis or surgeries if it's free? You just won't get the same quality doctors.

aggravated1's picture

I'm not going to be that 50% working to pay for the other 50%. I am working on my financial plans now. No freaking way.

aggravated1's picture

See, I agree with you about the Republicans and the morality agenda.

Politics have no place in my pu**y.

Frustr8d1's picture

Go without? If you don't want to go without quality healthcare, you have the freedom to find a better job and/or pay for a better insurance plan. The competition will drive insurance companies to keep quality up and prices down.

But, if the government controls the whole program, everyone will be forced to use whatever crappy thing is given to them. If you've ever been on government-run Tricare, you will know what I'm talking about..."Oh, you're having chest pains? Here, take this 800 mg Horse Pill (Motrin) and be on your way."

If you want to make the whole country equal so everyone has the same healthcare and same benefits...you will not bring the bottom up, you will bring the top down. Then who will be there to pay taxes for all the unemployment benefits?

12yrstepmonster's picture

Sliding scales, and no interest loans and treating people no matter what leads to the person who does pay their bill, paying for the person who can't.

Just saying, someone makes up the difference of payment, the hospital is a business.

aggravated1's picture

Who was that? Did they ever answer?
WHERE do people think the money comes from?????????

misSTEP's picture

Ditto!

aggravated1's picture

So you don't like Obama? Since he avoided debates and votes and pushed bills past Congress?

Shaman29's picture

dtzyblnd - the bureaucratic BS is why both DH and I are unaffiliated with either party. We will vote for the people that best represent how we feel about the important issues. We just don't care if they're red or blue any longer. As long as they have common sense.

I would like to see Chris Christie run in 2016. His no BS style might actually make a difference.

Shaman29's picture

I have nothing but respect for this guy. I wish he were our governor. Our state could use a good old butt kicking from someone like Governor Christie.

Shaman29's picture

Ours is a re-run. Was gov for two terms, took time off and ran again. I have no idea how he won this last time.

I'm truly hoping Chris Christie runs for president in 2016. He already has my vote.

12yrstepmonster's picture

Ok so I have a question with reference to the 50% reference. If I have done my research correctly. WWW.taxpolicycenter.com

I think you are referring to the mandatory spending which incompasses handouts. However.....the breakdown of the 55% is 33% social security, 25% Medicare, 13% Medicaid, 21% income security.

More than half (65%) of that 55% is to take care of our elderly, and 34% of the 55% is Medicaid and income security- welfare
Does that mean 19% of our total budget takes care of the poor?

12yrstepmonster's picture

Maybe they are in discretionary spending?

And another thought I pay state taxes to...my state taxes have only gone up.

And all the jobs the governor spent millions on courting companies, never produced the jobs.

I should look at that too.... Thanks fuel for thought

aggravated1's picture

You have a good point.
There are multiple times that one issue is brought up, and then the rest of the blog veers off in another direction. It happens daily. What's the big deal with this one doing the same?

StickAFork's picture

I'm pretty sure the "temporary" tax increase for education has passed. Sad

StickAFork's picture

SA, so when you say "go to mecca," do you mean actually GO to Mecca? I thought it was just a saying! LOL.

Frustr8d1's picture

Gays, abortion, women's rights...All rhetoric to confuse the simple-minded.

Start learning to speak Chinese.

Frustr8d1's picture

That's right, SA. California is on the brink of collapse. My BD22 went to the child support office in Sacramento (a Social program, right??), only to find a room plumb full of people waiting for help. After 2 hrs waiting, she gets to the ONE window that is open (because they had to lay off several employees due to the economy). What does the lady tell her? "Here's our website. Go fill out the paper you need and submit it online." Really?? And she took time off work to go spend all day waiting to be told that. So don't tell me social programs are there to improve the well-being of this nation! They are here so the govt can control its people.
