We have fruit. I keep fruit cut up in the fridge most of the time. I do t worry about this kid and junk. He was salads and fruit all the time. If we go out to eat at a buffet he eats a salad 1st. We ate at a pizza Buffett not long ago and he asked me to help him make a salad before he went for the pizza.

PigPen is 12.5 and learned how to use the microwave about 6 months ago. Pathetic.

PrincASS stb16 doesn't microwave or toast anything. Takes too long - he could STARVE before it's ready!

Yep. I don't make breakfast for SDs any longer unless it's something I want to make. Both are old enough to do it themselves.
DP still treats SD9 like a five year old though..."do you want yummy toast this morning, yummy toast?" Ugh.

Because I don't do that no protein and no fruit generally. SD11 doesn't eat fruit anyway.

I'm not gonna cause a fight over what his kid eats for breakfast. When I cook and he has a fit DH says to bad so sad you're going to eat

Whaaaaaat? Do it all by his wittle self?? Not be waited on by the step monster? You obviously did not think this out... Wink

HAHA! Clearly I was NOT thinking!

I was cooking bacon one morning for DH and I. He asked me if I would throw in a few pieces for Thunderfoot. I looked at him like he had sprouted another head! No I will not fix her any bacon. If she wants it...she can do it herself or he can.

~thud~

Wha...what...what happened? OMG, you REFUSED to cook bacon for his darling child?? I feel faint... pass the whiskey....

Fresh fruit? Have you lost your mind? Wow. Feed the skids fresh fruit and NOT junk full of preservatives and unpronounceable chemical ingredients and sugar. SMH

My husband use to have a cookie night the night before they went back to BM. Then for some reason when I came along they turned it into every night. After about 6 months of that I put a stop to that. They might get cookies once a month. They use to get chips in school lunches. Now they get a zip lock bag with pop corn in place. They get fruit in school lunches, they get yogurt instead of pudding. Sometimes they get a pack of peanuts. Instead if mcdonalds last night I cooked. They will have fruit with lunch. Tonight they will have a home cooked meal

Aniki-Moderator's picture

In a different lifetime, I USED to make cookies for the skids. After PrincASS insulted my homemade spaghetti sauce (decades old recipe that everyone loves) and said he like premade, frozen packaged caca better, I haven't cooked so much as a piece of toast for the skids. The only time I contribute to skid meals is when DH wants one of my made-from-scratch meals and HE HELPS. Never again will I give 110% of my time for ungrateful little arseholes who would rather have chemical/preservative/crap laden premade SH!T.

Toaster pastries by 17....ONLY if Daaaaaaddy puts on the icing...

My big dream is that PigPen and PrincASS will move far, far away (maybe Irkutsk or Mars) and only visit once a decade.

This step kid can't put his shoes on the right feet. My bio is 3 and he does. Maybe it's bc as soon as we started outing shoes on him I was like this shoes goes on this foot..

Tuff Noogies's picture

yeah the boys oftentimes will hold their plate in the air and go "daddy? i want another one." so daddy jumps up and refills the plate. while tuff studies the inner upper part of her eyelids....

The ONLY reason my DH will put more on a skid's plate is because they are such horrible slobs, they would drop stuff all over the bloody place and then he'd have to hound them to clean it, clean it again, wipe up the sticky remnants they missed the first 2-7 times... It's easier, since he is standing right there to give them another helping. We quit using a tablecloth when they're there because PigPen wipes out a solid square foot of it every time he bellies up to the trough. PrincASS isn't QUITE as bad but when you try to shovel a cubic meter into your mouth, stuff is bound to fall out of the sides.

I think I'll go throw up my lunch now...

Same here. Can't use a table cloth at all. Miraculously, DH and I can eat at the table and not get food ALL over the cloth but Thunderfoot is just not capable of hitting her mouth.

DH and I can have a cloth on the table for a solid MONTH without any problems. I change it because I want to see a different one. Honestly, I have not had a cloth on the bloody table since CHRISTMAS. :?

This is going to sound really bad but my BS17 will actually look at me and ask for me to fix him sandwichs, waffles or whatever even if it is toasted or microwaved.
It pisses me off to no end. When I am not around he managed just fine. But if I am home,,,he expects me to make it. Unless I am in the process of making the same thing for myself or someone else,,,I tell him he is quite capable on his own.
He never used to be that bad...he was more than willing to make himself a snack or whatever. When DH and I got married, BS regressed into infant status on some things. I honestly think he got jealous when he would see me make something for YSS. YSS was only 5 at the time and needed help with some things so I would help him. Thats when BS started wanting me to do for him again.
Now that YSS is old enough to get his own food, snacks I no longer do it for any of them.
BS17 has gotten much better about it now but a year or so ago he drove me crazy with this issue.
I will brag a bit about BS tho...If YSS does need help with something in the kitchen, BS is the ONLY sibling who will help him. BS and YSS have the closest relationship between he and all the SS's. I think BS enjoys the fact that YSS looks up to him.

If I was COOKING breakfast it would be one thing .. However my point to this was a 10 year old, stepchild or not, should be capable of making himself 2 more frozen waffles in the toaster. Did I ask him to go scramble eggs or fry some bacon? Absolutely not! I don't want my house burnt down, I don't want one of them hurt.. But the toaster.. Forgive me if you find that to be out of line ...
