How many on here have tattoos and what do they mean? I have a ten sided star with wings on my left arm it used to be a pentagram I got it when I was in high school as a symbol of who I was then. But now I had it changer mostly because of FDH. the meaning of it now is new beginnings.

Nope, no tatoos for my wife or I. Not that we have a problem with them. I have enough needles in my daily life just to stay alive I don't want to sit and let someone poke me with a needle a few million times for fun.

How about Kat on LA Ink? She is HOT!

Best regards.

I have 2 - a heart on my ankle with my own name in - long story short, I used to dream of my own death and how they would not be able to identify my body - got that tattoo and haven't had the dream since. Strange but true
2nd is a tigger on my hip which I'd love to have removed - no meaning just stupid & childish

I don't, but my DH (who is 60) has three smallish ones and he's thinking of getting another one. Fine with me.

I have one on the front of my pelvic bone/upper thigh. It's a rose vine intertwined with some smaller flowers. I got it after I left my ex-husband. I grew up as a mild & meek quiet individual. I got walked all over. The small flowers represent who I was then. A beautiful individual who didn't really stand out. I was easily overlooked & not outspoken. The rose represents the individual I have become as I've learned to stand up for myself & speak my mind...a bold, yet still beautiful flower with a thorn here & there as needed when someone reaches at me to ruffle my petals. Smile

I have one tattoo I got 3 yrs. ago when I was 22. It's sorta like a lotus flower, but different. It has a pink banner across it (breast cancer is rampant on both sides of my family) with my last name inside the banner. I wanted something to kind of honor my family and when I get married someday and change my name, I'll always have that with me. Don't know if that really makes sense to anyone else, but it's special for me. My dad loves it, he always asks to see it when I'm at their house.

I have 2. I'm 39. A parrot on my shoulder blade and a black widow coming down on my lower back. My Grandpa saw the spider one when I was bending over, his words were "You know, when you get my age, that spider is going to be in the crack of your ass honey." :O LOL Thanks, Grandpa!

DH & I have been planning on getting a tattoo together to symbolize our wedding too. We have the design and would have done it already but with my health issues we figured it would be kind of risky to inject ink into me at this time.

DH has 2 tats and he'd love to get them removed - just crazy stuff he did when he was a lot younger, nothing bad. I have one - it's an ocean scene with a sunset & a pair of sunglasses. I've had it about 3 1/2 yrs although it's fading alot because I spent some time in a tanning bed which is not recommended for tats.

ya i have a diamond behind my ear (me and like 7 of my girlfriends have the same one)
and a horseshoe with freesia around it with my mums name in a banner across on the top of my foot thats really recent as my mum died in march me and sister got matching ones. i would get more so long as they are all tasteful and oldschool.
bf HAD his wifes name on outer wrist but that shit got covered up the day before he met my parents with a big T for his oldests first name. thankgod. he also has some brighteyes lyrics on the back of his calf that was done by a mate with a homemade tattoo gone that he traced over my handwriting. that was well ghetto situaion but is looks pretty pro.

I am 35 and DH is 38.

I have 2 tattoos, and DH has 8. Mine don't mean anything; I just wanted the decoration - they're small (2"?) and just inside my hipbones, so they don't show in public 99% of the time.

DH's are mostly military-related. He did cover up a 16-yr-old Taz tattoo with a custom Roman shield and spear design a couple years ago - it suits his personality much better than the cartoon character.

I'd like more, but I have some very strict rules about where I'll put them. I don't want anything that can be seen in either a polo shirt and shorts, or in a formal gown, so that limits me a lot.

i am 21 and have two tattoos, both on my back. One is a star (love stars! lol) its on my shoulder blade and the other is on my other shoulder blade, its my handwriting the word "love" with angel wings around it. They dont really have significance besides the fact that I like them both, the 2nd one is my favorite because I love to love others lol. i do want more, atleast 2. One with a cherry blossom, then one with the letter A fancy.
my dh has 6 (but he has chinese symbols underneath all of them) one is his ex's initials that say decay underneath (meaning he acknowledges that their relationship he learned alot but he's never going back -I was kinda iffy on him getting that tattoo, but its his body...) The other is his nickname with the chinese symbol for fury and then april 16 and then underneath it the chinese symbol for star. (the day he was born-but he says its for me too cuz my name is that, then the chinese symbol for star is because I have a star tattoo).

I dont have any, but there are several I want. They all have various meanings. One is a Lotus flower, has Buddhist meaning, other one is a Tibetan prayer, another one is the union jack, b/c my paternal family is british. Last one is a white ribbon (similar to my avatar) for my dad's lung cancer. However, I'm waaaay toooo chicken AND I'm paranoid about people seeing them.....

I have 1 tattoo that I got last year at age 34. It is of 3 large purple orchids on my hip/thigh. The orchids represent my marriage (I carried them in my bouquet) and the flowers represent the 3 children I gained from the marriage (1 skid, 2 bios).

DH has about a dozen tattoos now. He got his first one to celebrate his divorce. Then waited a long time before getting some really cool work done in the past few years.

SS got his first tattoo a few months ago, just before turning 18. It was a nautical star (each point is half black & half white). It was terrible! Each point was a different length, LOL. DH and I were so disappointed that he did it. But, he also needs to learn from his own mistakes.

When I was in my post divorce single days I dated several women with tattoos. A friend of mine refered to tattoos on the back of a woman as "Reading material".

Oh how I enjoyed reading that material. }:)

Best regards.

i have always heard lower back tats referred to as "tramp stamps" ~~ i didn't make up the term, that's just the only way i have ever heard it called...

dh & i are tattoo free, but other people's self expression doesn't bother me....

I have 7, DH has the entire right arm, random on teh left, both thighs, and 3 on his back.
My first was the pink ribbon for my mom - survivor!! right hip my zodiac sign, left hip a heart with devil horns and a halo - showing my different sides/moods. Left shoulder my dog - closest to a kid I ever want! tribal with heart on lower back - probably the only one that i got without thinking it through. left lower leg - the road runner cartoon guy for my dad. it was his first and only tattoo and i figured I have the heart for my mom so it was only appropriate to get something for my dad. my wrist is the symbol for strength which DH also has on his wrist. when i didnt think we would ever get married i wanted something that we both had. I chose strength because i think when we're together we're stronger than anything.

I have four. A butterfly on my right hip, and another butterfly between my shoulder blades. I have a small Chinese symbol meaning "soul" on my shoulder blade. And a sun on my lower back. I would like to get another one, but haven't decided for sure if I'm done or not.

None here. Wanted a small rose or broken heart after my husband died. Glad I didn't. DH hates tatoos and I would have to have it removed. Watched my Dad get his removed and he was in pain and couldn't expose his arm to the sun. I am sure the process is better now. Also, it doesn't really work with my profession. Majorily frowned upon.

Aw, dude… I’m 34 and I have 9 tattoo’s… all my own art (most of them drawn during my time in art school, when my entire world was conceived on paper) and every one full of so much meaning I couldn’t even begin to tell the tales… but I’ll tell you about my two favorite! Wink

I’m a HUGE Beatles fan… my father played me their albums from the day I was brought home from the hospital and I grew up studying the meaning of each and every one of their glorious songs at his feet… it was more religious to me than the Catholic upbringing my mother tried to foster. And my favorite of all was always "Strawberry Fields Forever"… it’s so special to me and so entwined with the love I have for my father that it took me almost a year after he died to be able to listen to it again. (This was 16 years ago… he passed a few months before I graduated high school)

I played around with some strawberry designs for years but two summers ago I saw the life changing film “Across The Universe” (a must see for any Beatles fan…) and in the scene where they’re playing out the song, Jude, an artist, begins nailing these big beautiful bleeding strawberries to a wall and the image struck home like a lightning bolt! I immediately picked up my pad and pencils and drew two bleeding berries… had them tattooed nailed to my flesh… I love them so much… Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream…

DH has one itty bitty one on his calf… it’s his power symbol… and he thinks he’s cooler than me cause he got it first!!! He was the first boy in my graduating class to get a tat and he holds it over my head to this day.

I have 9 works of art… he passed out when he got his tiny decal… Wink

Tattoo Story.

When my SS was in 1st grade we took a ThanksGiving camping trip to Big Bend with some of our college friends. Our son (my SS) was the only kid in the group at that time.

One day we crossed the Rio Grand to Boquillas Mexico (illegally of course) for lunch and drinks at a cantina. While we were in the cantina a heavily tattoo'd young woman (early to mid 20's) walked up behind our son, gave him a hug from behind an said "Hi! (Name)". He absolutely freaked out because he did not have a clue who this woman was and he had never seen a heavily tattoo's person before, at least not up close. He screamed and about fell out of his chair.

This lady had tatoos covering every inch of explosed skin on her arms, chest, stomach, back, legs ... The only stuff that we could see that was not tatoo'd was her neck and face and her hands and feet.

It turned out that the young woman was his art teacher. She was mortified that she had scared him and kept applogizing and telling us that in class she wears long sleeves, slacks and a collared shirt and the kids don't know she has tattoo's. She kept asking us to "Please don't call the school". She was afraid that she would be fired for the tattoo's.

We calmed her down, assured her that we had no problem with the tattoo's thend put she and her boyfriend on our tab for several hours of drinking and feasting.

Once the kid recognized who she was he had a blast hanging out with his art teacher who was a work of art.

For the rest of the school year when he would walk in to her Art class or when they would see each other at school they would look at each other, put their index finger to their lips and give each other a wink and a Shhhhhhhhhh!

The kid never said a word to anyone but his mom and I about the tattoo's. We went to dinner and a partied with the Art teacher a few times while he was at that school.

Best regards.
