SD's BF's mother came knockin' on my door today!

I had told SD that she could go for a walk, supposedly she was going to go find a place to sit and draw (I'm not really buying it, but whatever), and I told her that if she decided to go hang out with her BF or anything else she needed to call me and let me know. She had been gone for about an hour and a half when the phone rang. I couldn't get to the phone because I was taking care of something for my 5 year old, but I looked to see who had called when I got done and saw it was SD, so I called her back (this was in less than 5 minutes). She didn't answer. I decided to take the phone and my cell in the bathroom with me while I took my shower, but she never called back. I'm stepping out of the shower to dry off and I hear the doorbell ringing. I don't know who it is and am not going to the door in a towel. The person starts banging on the door and I can tell that they are not going away, so I decide it must be important and maybe I should run to the door and check it out. It was SD's BF's mom! She wanted to make sure I knew her son was at my house! What she must have thought of me answering the door in my bath towel thinking her son was in my house?! I felt like a fool because I had no idea what she was talking about. I told her that SD was not home and that I did not know anything about her son being with SD. I told her that we have been having LOTS of problems with SD not being honest with us lately and mentioned that SD had snuck BF into our house at 1030 at night a little while back. She apologized for interruptin my shower and gave me her numbers and told me to call her anytime I had any questions about SD and BF and I did the same for her. She told me she was going to go hunt them down and she would send SD home. I am so embarrassed. I look like a fool that has no clue what their child/stepchild is doing. Of course, SD gets home and tries to say that she called more than once and couldn't get through for some reason...and any other excuse in the book she could think of to try and explain her way out of why I had no knowledge of what she was actually doing after I gave her multiple chances to tell me what she was really going to go do when she brought up her little nature walk BS in the first place. Oh, and did I mention that when SD got home her zipper on her pants was undone? OMG! I don't even want to know!

Of course not! That would have been the responsible thing to do! She didn't even bother to try and call me more than once or send me a text message or anything. Not making contact is the same as not calling at all, IMO.

"No, No, No ! Be embarrassed about the towel but do NOT be embarrassed about not knowing where she was."

I agree. There's no reason for you to be embarrassed about not knowing where your SD was. The BF's mother apparently didn't know where her son was either. It's good that the two of you exchanged numbers & can be in contact. Obviously the kids can't be trusted to communicate properly.
