I didn't see the movie. I read the book and was so disgusted by the ending that I couldn't bring myself to watch the movie. Maybe some day...

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! Do not read this if you have been wanting to read the book.

OK, in the book Anna dies in a car accident and Kate gets the kidney after all and lives a long and happy life.

I just hate books that are tied up in a neat little package. I felt that after all of Anna's struggles, Kate SHOULD die and Anna should go on to be great like her lawyer said he thought she would be. The author was upset they changed the ending in the movie, but I thought the book ending was LAME.

Oh well the movie doesnt end that way. You should watch it Smile Its a good movie even though its very sad. I cant imagine what it would be like to here those those words from a doctor.

I haven't watched the movie either for the same reason as Elizabeth. I read the book because I felt it dealt with a truly interesting ethical and moral dilemma that modern medicine has caused us to face. I was highly annoyed when she completely dodged dealing with it! LOL

I did not read the book but the movie does not end like the book. While watching the movie I was also shocked about some of the things that went on. I dont know what I would do if I were in that position but I do hope that I would not do what that mother did. Having another baby to harvest it for parts.

I like this movie also, when I watched it I though about this:

What if BM's child (our stepchildren) needed some sort of transplant or another medical surgery only your child ( stepkids half siblings)could give? Would anybody allow this to happen? Say no you cant put your child at risk? What would happen? What would the reaction be???

Thats an interesting question.

I have seen the movie, I loved it.

Have my child undergo surgery for SD?? I guess it would depend on what it is.
