The power of being an outcast

greyskies's picture

This has been a long-time thing now with SD13 ignoring me in the house.  Going OUT of her way to.  This morning, when she was getting ready for school and eating breakfast, she turned herself in the chair the complete opposite way, back facing me.  She rotated chairs to do it a few times, just in different chairs, at different angles.  Been disenganged slowly over time, but more rapidly recently, and I think she's just angry she can't pick a fight with me.  I'm nonchalant.  I've taken away her power.  She's one of those silent plotters.  You know the person outwardly expresses angst and hates your guts, but they also quietly brood and try to mask as to not act the part.  I can detect it.  Can't tell you how many things I've detected and been correct about since I've been here.  Now that she knows I'll just keep on doing my merry thing (in this case it was working from home), she's probably acting out.  I just adjust my monitors, type, file my work, and ignore her tantrums.  I just don't see this random table charade as a coincidence.  She's done it before and likes to act like I don't exist.  Once, she got angry that I wanted space for myself and my partner in the living room.  She quipped, "Ugh! Only when SHE'S around."  (We're full-time, making it all the more fun).  It doesn't bother me so much anymore.  It's almost kinda funny.  You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.  I'm apparently making her life so miserable, wanting to help her be a good, kind, independent person, so I back off, yet, it's still not good enough.  Oh well.  Her karma is not getting the opportunity to know me or have me in her life, plus she won't get to reap the benefits of that when she becomes an adult and learns she needs other people and can't just alienate everyone.  I've begun to gain some confidence back and take control over my life.  Pros: too many to count.  I love being able to enjoy car rides without b*tching, nagging, whining, kicking my seat in a fit of rage, complaining, etc.

Well played.

Keep pulling her toxic teeth and eventually she will pretty much be just gumming her own misery.

It sounds that you are also enjoying removing her bite.

Keep enjoying your teeth pulling dental hobby.

SD or DH makes her breakfast and cleans up,   I would be on DH for allowing his DD to disrespecting you.  Your the adult, you must be respected or SD is out.   Unless SD is punishment is to stay in her room l. DH can take her and go,   This is no way to live and it's DH fault for letting it happen. He tge one you should be mad at
