OT / good time for a cleanse

secret's picture

With holiday parties coming up... I decided last Sunday to start a cleanse of sorts...

Happy to report that from Sunday morning to Sunday morning, I've lost 10.8 lbs.

I expect another 4 or 5 to be gone by Saturday....which is when the first of the parties takes place.

I need a new dress. Teehee!

I'm leaving work soon...and off to the mall to take a look before heading off to boutiques. Kind of exciting. I haven't bought a new dress in AGES.

ETA - removed it. PM if you want it.

lol, you sure you have the willpower to follow everything to the letter, NO exceptions?

It won't work if you don't.

Good for you! What cleanse method(s) are you using? I lost 25 lbs a few months ago but have about 20 more to lose to get back to my "right" size for my height (and yes, I already got 1"shorter so its 5 lbs less than ever before). Definite StepMom Stress Eating weight & I want my right body size back before Spring. SS17 is in training... to be a full-time stoner with possibly not even meeting grad requirements at the current rate of progress. I did this stupid diet I paid for that had all these suppliments & a couple shots of ACV after meals, but it was a rip-off so I stopped. DH is a really good cook & SS17 stresses me out, so it's a challenge to not seek comfort from sugar & carbs. Hopefully this time next year I'll be all happy & free from be daily b.s. of having a lazy, lying, stoned thug-in-training running his show from our home. He skipped school again today and the week before last (which was Thanksgiving break week). I'm trying to be disengaged, and DH is backing me up & understanding my point of view better, so it's very belpful for me to read this board & the realistic, tough advice.

I've edited the blog to include it. Sorry about all the wierd symbols, I'm going to edit them out.

It would have to involve a colonic, or a self-administered enema or three.

It. would. have. to.

Just saw your edit. What is this from?!

And BTW.... I don't do the weight for the veggies. I just eat them. I do approximate weight for the meat....

No enemas. Wink

You might get a bit light headed the first few days... this has an extremely low caloric value... but it sends your body in ketosis, which means it supplements the eaten calories with calories from your own fat stores... so you're actually "getting" about 3000 calories even if you're only eating betbween 500 - 800 calories.

You're getting ALL the nutrients you need. Probably more than you normally WOULD get.

Your skin clears up because your body is very hydrated...

And ANY cheating on this throws your body OUT of ketosis, so it WON'T WORK if you do.

Day 2 or 3, you will "flush out"... then you won't... not for a few days... if you get my drift... if you get TOO light headed, you can get potassium supplements at the pharmacy, just take 2 and move on.

No enemas/senna tea or the like? Interesting!

The only way I can drop weight through diet alone is fasting then going whole food, no dairy, no sweeteners, and absolutely no carbs. A vegan version, or very lean meat version. No alcohol. Just black coffee, unsweetened teas, senna tea, and water. Which is easy, because outside of alcohol, I don’t drink any thing else other than those.

Giving up alcohol is the biggest hurdle for me, though. I do a little healthy fats too - like avocado.

The change in complexion is the best!

Enjoy dress shopping!

this sounds very similar... but no fasting required. I eat very well.

Healthy fats are great, but not with this... because your body latches onto it and undoes the ketosis your body is going through. Having a small bite of avocado will make you "feel" hungrier than a hippo.

I need to do this but........give up my rum? At holiday time? Oh no! Wink

If you tire of the complexity of this, you can do what is called the Military Diet. Easy to do, 3 days on, 4 days 'normal' eating. It is a simple diet and even includes a substitutes page. It's not expensive either. Similar to this, you get about 1000 calories per day, for 3 days. Then, you eat 'normal' for 4 days...then back on again for 3.

It did kick my body into weight loss mode. Plus the fact that my job is very physical. Because it is physical, I try to work the 3 days around my 2 days off and then only 1 day at work. So I've lost loads of weight just from my job alone so I don't need to do it anymore. But the diet does work and it even includes a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert!

I've been meaning to try this but it's hard when DH doesn't need to diet and I need to eat less/ healthier. Maybe I'll give it a try soon!

That is most certainly not healthy. I’m not throwing stones since my diet consists of fermented fruit, coffee and salt. Nevertheless, that cleanse is not healthy unless you’re looking for cholesterol laden arteries.

secret's picture

actually, it really is. Most things on there are fruit/vegetables, and lean meats.

Much healthier than sodas, chips, fries, and other factory made foods.

Everything about it is well balanced, there are foods from all groups, and healthy portions of them, too.

As to cholesterol... the cholesterol in these foods are "good" cholesterol... and not the artery logging cholesterol you're talking about, usually increased by things like greasy burgers and fatty meats. None of that in here.

It certainly isn’t a healthy diet. It’s something to maybe use for rapid lose for some emergency reason. I used rapid weight lose diets on two occasions in my life and actually kept it off after I went to normal low calorie eating style. But I’d not recommend this diet for prolonged period of time unless prescribed by a medical professional. So just be careful not to stay on this for too long.

lol, it's actually closer to the food pyramid than most people eat on a daily basis.

It's not for everyone... but you're correct in that this is not a long term meal plan, not without some adjustments... though there's been research that indicates that a calorie restricted diet (with this type of food, not one 500 calorie burger...) makes people live longer and healthier lives.
