This is a local case where the SM fatally punched her SD and then tried to cover it up. Sad.

These type of news article are heartbreaking. And such incidents just on occurring. Whether it be a SM, a SF, a mother, a father, a babysitter or even a daycare provider.

That such evil exist that anymore could punch, burn, kick and/or otherwise torture a child is unthinkable to me. What could a small child ever possibly do to justify beating and abusing them...and to murder them, accidently murdered or not. Dead is dead. Covered in bruises or burns is covered in bruises and burns. Being shut off in a dark closet, put in a cage, starved, sexually abused. It just never ends. And it is at the hands of those who are suppose to love and protect them.

I read one article the other day where a four year old reached into her grandmother's purse to get candy, only to accidently pull the trigger to grandma's loaded and ready gun and shot herself.

Another one, I'm still mourning and being more horrified by with each passing day of forthcoming new information is the little babe in Joliet , IL. Little Semaj Crosby. The case is rattled our state's DCFS system to the core. A f-ing intern was assigned to this child's case pre her murder. Why? To cut cost, cover too many cases with too little staff and speed the closing of cases. Local contest in the agency to speed number of cases closed in x amount of time. Gift card awards to be won. The intern, uh, 'caseworker' has just left Semaj's home 30 minutes before the child was reported missing and eventually found dead.

Our system is broken. All of it. From the parents, to the life decisions to the help that should be available to the families and especially these children.

My heart bleeds for the grandfather who tried to get help for this child in the OP's link. Who is left to call when your calls go unanswered or , like the case in my state, an intern is sent to 'investigate'. Who is left to answer for the lack of forthcoming assistance in these types of cases? The states who claim lack of funding, with the citizens the of cut taxes yet still provide full adequate services.

I don't have the answers, but I sure as h*ll wish I did.

Sorry to rant on your blog, OP. Sad

There are regularly newspaper articles about mothers who kill their children. One just today in fact. SM's, gf's, mothers. It's all sick and very sad.

I wonder if the GF can take legal action against CPS for negligence. This little girls death would have been prevented if they'd removed her from the home and let the GF keep her like he wanted to. Parents like this are why our healthcare system needs to provide free birth control and sterilization.

This is horrible. That little girl reminds me of my BD. That poor baby and that poor grandfather.

I've seen the CPS system at work, and it is truly broken. Rest in peace little one.
