Reminder of a skid story

When things were still good with the skids and even before DH and I moved in together, etc. I offered to pay for all of us to go to an indoor water park. I was really looking forward to it, since it was the middle of winter and I was so over the cold and gloom of winter.

So I get the tickets and have it planned. Looking forward to the kids having fun and DH and I having some fun too.

DH tells me 2 days before that him and YSD can't go because she has a "modeling interview".

:?

You know those commercials "casting" for Disney and Nickelodeon shows and all you have to do is call in and they MIGHT give you an appointment? Only they give an appointment for everyone and then get you there, where they just try to sell you on some "talent" package.

So anyways, 13 year old YSD took it upon herself to call and schedule the appointment and then tell DH that he had to take her. Typical YSD.

I tried to explain to DH that this was nothing but a cattle call. That he would sit for hours and that nothing was going to come out of it. It was a waste of time and energy. Not to mention that YSD just made the plan without even talking to him and that WE ALREADY HAD PLANS and I paid for tickets.

His response is that he couldn't crush YSD's dream and that I should take my 2 nieces instead. (So now instead of having fun I am the only adult and will be adding on extra kids).

So I end up going with a handful of kids. Stressful day but still fun and the kids had a blast.

While DH is there all day and sits with YSD for her "interview" and then they try to sell DH on a "talent" package, which DH says no and then they leave and that's it.

So this past weekend I am driving in the car and I hear that dang commercial for the "casting call".

I couldn't help but laugh and think of stupid DH and YSD sitting there all day for nothing, missing the fun. And to think how far we have come. Thankfully DH has grown a TON since then and wouldn't fall for that stuff now.

UGH... SD and GBM tried to get DH to fall for that crap! It was like Barbizon or some stupid crap, where they make you think you are something special.... and if you just shell out $1500.00, you'll be the next Naomi Campbell. Thankfully my DH was like hell to the no. I mean come on! At the time, SD was like 12 or 13, awkward as fuck, in need of braces etc. REALLY?? I can't believe people fall for this crap. Sad

Yeah, I paid for an afternoon theatre thing for everyone - and everyone said "Yes, I want to go!" The day of NO ONE went with me. I was furious.
I actually didn't go home to dinner that night nor the next few nights and I was cold, cold, cold for days.

Never, ever paid for anything like that again. I've made minor slip-ups here and there but each time I was like, WHY did I do that?
