OT: Allegiant Air

Has anyone flown on Allegiant Air and if so have you had any problems? I read their reviews and they aren't the best in terms of flights being cancelled and horrible customer service. Plus leg space, comfort, no free pop, have to pay for luggage and to pick your seat, which I would have to do since it will be just me and BS.

If you book with them, they offer travel package options and I could save $300. Which of course is appealing. But not sure if it's worth the hassle.

Since their flight schedules are limited, I'd be really upset if our flight got cancelled.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

I've flown it a couple of times. I didn't necessarily have issue with the flights (although as stated in Monkey's post, they nickle and dime you for everything)... My issue was with booking package deals (flight/hotel) - if you book a package deal you are on the bottom of the list for getting the room you ACTUALLY booked. I've had this happen twice and I've always gotten 2 responses: 1) can't promise the room (it's in small print) and 2) you booked thru a bargain basement airline, what did you expect?? Even those times were I booked a "premium" room, only to arrive at the hotel and find those rooms aren't available and got placed in a different (lower) room. So Allegiant got the extra $$ for the premium room, then didn't stand behind their reservation, nor did I ever get a refund.

I have been on it several times. There are several airports in my state that fly Allegiant. There are non stop flights into the cities up north where my family and friends live. I book ahead of time when the flight is cheap. If you wait, once you pay for seats and luggage, I agree, you could have taken another airline .

I have never had a flight cancelled, but that is likely because we live in a vacation destination and the flights are always packed.

I take a drink and a snack on the plane.

Yes, we've flown it once. It is one of the carriers in our area that has direct flights to sunny locales, such as Florida, that are not available from our local airport from any other carriers. We had no problems whatsoever with the delay, and found it to be quite comfortable in terms of space. (We were on the second row.) You do have to pay for everything extra, including checked bags, carry ons, and the ability to choose your seat in advance. You also have to pay extra if you don't check in on-line, as I recall. We would not hesitate to fly it again. Now Via Air is a completely different story. Our son's flight was canceled until the next day and then delayed several hours at that. I know several people who've had the same experience. I would never choose to fly with them again.

I flew on Allegiant last month. I did not have any problems with delays or cancellations. But you do have to pay for everything, baggage, snacks, drinks, etc. A couple of days before my flight they sent me an email with the option to add a bag at a lower price than what was initially offered. The plane I flew in was small and the seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. For the price though it was worth it.

My BM uses them all the time and love it. She just left for a trip this week and was disappointed they didn't have any flights going to her location this time of year.
She always looks there first and has never had a delay or a problem.
