Little Jo's picture

Today's the day to celebrate our loved ones and friends.
I just want to say that even though I'm new to this site, I really appreciate it and you.

I hope you all have a great day.
What are some of your plans for today?

I am hoping for a quiet night, and a little red wine. I hope that everyone on the site gets a chance to celebrate with their loved ones and that butterflies are loose in all our tummy's tonight.

We can complain that roses have thorns, but we should be thankful that thorns have roses!

We've got almost 3" of sleet on the ground, we're getting a fine mist of freezing rain at the moment and snow is expected next. Needless to say, we're staying in. Wonder if Domino's delivers in this?! Wink

to my step-buddies! Smile

This is my first Valentine's day being married! We don't have major plans - hubby did leave me the sweetest card ever on my nightstand before he left for work, so that made my day. We are supposed to go to dinner tonight and that's about it. Looking forward to it though!

We have reservations at a very nice resturant tonight Smile We decided to skip the flowers and candy bit and rent a movie and cuddle up after our feast.
I hope all you ladies have a special night too Smile

Happy Valentines to you all.

This site is very helpful to me. Back in October when I joined I was a wreck. Learned a lot just lurking and applied some of the great advice to my own situation and things are getting better, where they are not, I am trying to handle them better.

Cheers to you all and enjoy your day!

They made my BF drive into work, which took him an hour, only to tell him they are closing early. He is on his way home.
We will be shoveling the whole day.
Dinner, wine, a movie, OH, tonight's 'Lost'.

Have fun! Jo

I put a valentine card and a chocolate heart in my hubby's chest of drawers so when he went to get clothes out he got it.
Ss is off school again today and is here with me so I made him a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch in the shape of a heart.
I made a chocolatey dessert for later and I will be cooking a nice dinner for the guys.

That's about it.

We weren't planning on much, but we did want to take the kids and go out to dinner. (No one should have to cook on Valentine's Day, IMHO.) Then we thought we'd do something fun together, since hubby had the night off. Nothing special, but maybe pop a DVD in for the kids so that we could watch a movie alone, break out a board game or two, just enjoy relaxing in each other's company. Well, screw that! We got 3" of sleet, then freezing rain, then more sleet, we are under an ice storm warning and high wind warning and we are expected to get a little more snow and sleet before it's all over. No going out to a restaurant, no one will deliver in this, so I had to cook. But that's okay, because my husband wasn't even around to eat it... he got called in to work because the other third shift manager couldn't get there due to the weather. We live closer, so my husband has to go in, which means that instead of enjoying the evening together, he's upstairs in bed sleeping, then he'll go to work around eleven, which is when I will go to bed. So I don't even get to sleep in the same bed at the same time as my husband tonight. Sigh. Oh, yeah, and he spent all day in the garage, because he's building our almost 4yo a princess/castle bed for her birthday next week. He got me a mushy card and some chocoloates, I got him a funny card and some chocolates, we got our kids each a goodie bag, but I didn't even so much as email the skids this year. (Usually, I send them each a VD card and little goodie package, not this year, spoiled, ungrateful brats.) Yuck, yuck, yuck. I had such high hopes! He said, "Well, we'll just have to celebrate this weekend." I guess that's something, but you know, Valentine's Day is TODAY, not this weekend. And to think I was happy about his military retirement because I thought that meant from now on we'd actually get to spend the important days together! LOL

Anne, I'm so sorry things didn't go as planned. I understand about the weather. We got buried today with snow, 20 inches. The weather you can't control.

So, what can you think of to help turn it around? I'm sure he is disappointed as well. Can you thing of any cute way of sharing your disappointment?

Anne, you are our pillar of strenght, we need you, don't be sad.

Hang in there. Jo

I'd have given just about ANYTHING - maybe even my firstborn - for 20" of snow. I'm a snow fiend, well, actually a weather fiend, and we've had the most boring non-winter in history. But at least there is some white stuff on the ground, so I guess I'll have to content myself with that. And yes, chocolate is THE best consolation prize there is. Hmmm... now where's that box of chocolates?! How did that Forrest Gump saying go? Life is like a box of chocolates... full of nuts? Okay, maybe that wasn't it, but it still applies. Wink

We had such a lovely, lovely day despite this awful weather. Spent it with DH, SS, SD, and my daughter. We had tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway (we're in NY). Instead of driving (icy conditions) we took the train in, but wound up getting stuck on the way home for two hours anyway...Then we went out for dinner (rest. was empty but we had GREAT service) and just got back now.
It was also my first married Valentine's Day but I am so glad we spent it as a new family unit. Got chocolates, roses, gave the kids all chocolates....Felt great!! Better than I ever anticipated.
Happy Valentine's Day to you all too!
