OT - What's your favorite Holiday movie?

Blue Moon's picture

On Aniki's blog, she asked what holiday food people hate, and someone mentionned the jello with cat food in it, from the movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Which got me thinking I just love that movie! Clark Griswold is such a dreamer, it's endearing!

Another movie I really like is The Holiday, with Cameron Diaz, and Kate Winslet.

Of course I always like to watch The Sound of Music, although it's not really a Holiday movie...

Which movies do you like to watch during the Holidays!

four Christmases, in addition to my Christmas Story and National Lampoon's (yes, my favorite part is the squirrel in the tree, and when he goes off on a tirade about his boss). home alone is always good.

The Night Before-Seth Rogan kills me dead when he's talking to the nativity scene and then barfs in the church. :jawdrop:

I love them all. I am a sucker for the Hallmark Christmas movies. But I think my favorites that are not Hallmark are Angel in the House, A Christmas Snow, A Christmas Story and Elf.

The Nutcracker *ballet version.
Die Hard, A Christmas Story, and Emmett Potter's Jugband Christmas.

Ooh, the Nutcracker! We have the Barbie version- the 90's one, not the new crap they have today. I love watching that with my kiddo. Will try to get her to watch the real ballet this year (now that she's started ballet)!

I love Nightmare before Christmas as well, and I can't find the old 80's version of Frosty the Snowman and Rudolf. Would love to see those again.

The Grinch who Stole Christmas also!

Peridwen's picture

White Christmas
Scrooge (the musical)
Scrooged
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
The Bear who Slept through Christmas
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Polar Express
The Santa Clause
The Santa Clause 2
The Santa Clause 3
The Grinch (Original cartoon)
The Grinch (Jim Carey)
Veggie Tales St. Nicholas
Home Alone
Home Alone 2
Home Alone 3
Die Hard
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Love Actually (just me, though I can sometimes get DH to watch with me. His MST riffs are quite good for this one. Wink )

All these movies must be watched during the 25 days of Christmas. It's set in stone at our house. Must happen or Santa doesn't come aka Peri ignores food and wrapping gifts in order to watch the ones she missed. }:)

Die Hard is not a Christmas movie! You can watch it at Christmas but it's not a Christmas movie!

Home Alone 1 and 2.
Does a Thanksgiving movie count? There’s snow in it.... Planes, Trains and Automobiles is my absolute favorite!!!

Good to see you, Blayze.

BTW: came home last night to BS-16 shouting out that he was working in the garage. History: Most of our tools -- chop-saw, nail-gun etc have gone missing over the last 6 months. I blamed ex-DH, but was proven wrong because we found tracks in the snow to the unlocked back door to our garage.

Anyway, BS decided to rig a trip-wire by that door that included a can of paint and a flame-thrower/fire-caster. SERIOUSLY? I had visions of HomeAlone 1. Idiot.
