Cute things SS5 has done/said while he's been here

Mostly we bitch, but I'd be doing SS a disservice if I didn't share some moments where he made me smile. So here ya go. Remember, he's only 5, which makes some of these extra adorable.

REGARDING THE WALLPAPERING JOB I DID TO RESURFACE HIS DRESSER
"Daddy! DD22mo is trying to rip the paper off my dresser!"
"Well it's okay kiddo, it won't hurt her."
"But I LIKE the paper on it!"

REGARDING MY NERVOUSNESS ABOUT HOW HE'D REACT TO BEING TOLD THAT I COULDN'T GET HIM INTO T-BALL CAMP AND THAT SOCCER CAMP WAS WHAT I ENROLLED HIM IN
"Cool! I LOVE Soccer! I want to go practice right now!"

AFTER GETTING HIS FIRST PAIR OF CLEATS
Me- "SS, remember you have to break those in. They won't feel as comfy as normal shoes at first."
SS- "I don't care about that! I only care about the GAME!"

WHEN DH AND I WERE IN THE CAR TALKING ABOUT HOW EXCITED I WAS TO BE ABLE TO RUN AGAIN SINCE IT MAKES ME FEEL MORE ATTRACTIVE (Note: We thought he was asleep at the time.)
"Mimi I think you're BEAUTIFUL!"

BEFORE BED ONE NIGHT
"Mimi, I'm sad because I miss my Mommy."
"Well, it's okay to miss your Mommy. I miss my Mommy sometimes too."
"Who is your Mommy?"
"Grandma (my Mom's name)"
"Mimi, you know I miss you too when you're not around."

This one wasn't something he said, but a few days ago he didn't see that his baby sister (8mo) had crawled into his bedroom (I was in the bathroom at the time) and he accidentally dropped a toy dinosaur on her from the top of the bunk bed. She was upset, but otherwise fine, and even though I knew it was an accident and told him so he felt so bad that he put himself in time-out!

This one wasn't him, but was still adorable.

This morning I'm taking my DD22mo into her daycare, and she goes "SS is my friend!" I told her, "SS is your brother," and she says "SS is my brother AND my friend!"

So cute, all the kids. So cute.

I get frustrated with him, sometimes extra frustrated probably because I'm not as used to him as the girls, but he really is a good kid. Hopefully he stays that way *crosses fingers*

I love kids until they hit about 7.

I put Gson3 in time out a few weeks ago. Just put him in a bedroom but there were legos on the bed. I went in the room 10 minutes later and he was building legos.
Me: What cha doing?
GS: Im in time out.

Hahahaha.... it's so hard to keep a straight face even when they're in trouble.

Oh believe me, I'm dreading some of his older years.

My YSS was about 5 at the time and he said "I know Santa Claus is real because you would NEVER buy us all these toys." Haha YES.I.DID.

I am lucky, but we'll see how long it stays that way. BM already makes things hard. We missed an entire year of visitation because of her bullshit.

But now we're back, with a CO, and she can suck it.

We were at the zoo last summer and I was walking holding SS8's hand and a family walked toward us and the woman was in a black burka. His eyes got all big and he STARED as we walked by and I'm thinking, "Oh boy...."

SS8: DarkStar, that lady is a ninja!
Me: (trying not to laugh) SS8, she wears that for her religion, it's not nice to make fun of that
SS8: (very offended) I wasn't making fun of her! Ninjas are cool!

Out of the mouths of babes, indeed

When watching the Bible mini-series that was on TV around Easter, FSD8 said, "So God isn't Joseph?" I told her no, God is God. Joseph married Mary and took care of Jesus. "But God is Jesus' dad, so Joseph must be God." No, Joseph is just Mary's husband. FSD said, "wow, even Jesus had a stepdad." I thought that was too cute!!!

SS was about 5 years old, he was in his room playing. Meanwhile our friends came over and we were all sitting in the living room. He didn't realize they were there. SS walks in the living room, looks around real slow and says "look at all this FRESH MEAT".

A few months ago SS and I were talking about a friend of his that has been raised primarily by his mom, who babies him BADLY. The kid is a sissy. SS says "I think its because he doesn't have a DAD to teach him how to be a man". I said "maybe you are right, but I am sure he loves his mom." SS says "yeah, but I am lucky, I have a dad and TWO moms".

Since SS was about 3, up to present day, when anything gets close to hitting SS's "private area" (even if it hits him in the knees) he drops to the floor, puts both hands over his nuts and says "aw, you got me in my chicken mcnuggets from mcdonalds".

When SS was about 2 we took him to a park that has Geese. One of them bit SS on the arm. He wasn't hurt, it just scared him (and me for that matter). To this day, if you ask him where the goose bit him he will tell you "it bit me in the butt". Not sure WHY he has the memory that it bit his butt, but that's what he remembers.
