OT - Eff Off/Forn Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Sorry, STalkers. Once again, I'm late to the party. It's been a shite week!

Eff off to:

  • Mr. Vacation coddling people. They send in requests and Mr. V has been doing some of the work for them. Sorry, NOT sorry, coddled eggheads. Evil Aniki a) cannot spend all of that time trying to find that information that should have filled out by YOU on the effing request, and 2) does not care if the request is denied because YOU supplied bad info. All I do is copy and paste. Rejections are the result of YOUR missing/invalid data.
  • King Pita. The ONE saving grace of having to do Mr. Vacation's job is that I've been able to miss several Zooms because I am too effing busy to attend. But that hasn't stopped KP from being The Drying Dingleberry Pulling A Short & Curly. I send out an email to the team; KP must reply to all with some worthless blurb (ie: "Lots going on this weekend. Let me know if any questions."). No, KP, no one has any effing questions for YOU. These people have been doing their jobs since long before your annoying arse harshed our mellow work vibe. You're just trying to make yourself relevant because NO ONE WANTS YOUR EFFING ARSE.
  • Eternal pessimists. Stop trying to pull me into your ugly suckhole of negativity. I've been subjected to your BS for years. Have I ever agreed with you? EFF NO. So stop right there. If you want to discuss something light and pleasant, I'm all for it. You want to go on yet another negative rant or beeyotch about the same bloody thing you've been going on about for years. Go spew your bile elsewhere (like that nice outhouse north of Bruce Crossing). Aniki is D-O-N-E with your caca.
  • The "C" word. No, not caca. And not that word. I'm talking about the one that has to come up in every single work conversation. Did you/your spouse/kids/family members/dog/cat/goldfish/brother's uncle-in-law's boytoy's dogwalker's mancurist's proctologist have it? Were you pricked? What version were you pricked with? Did you have symptoms? What were/are they/Why didn't you? So-n-so won't/can't get it. Evil Aniki immediately hangs up the Zoom when this happens because I'M EFFING BUSY!!! (FYI, this is my lunch break.)

FORN FRIDAY

Forn is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined. The local fish place has a fresh load of whitefish so I want to try a new recipe. For the record, the high tomorrow will be 40 and the low in the upper 20s - perfect soup/stew and hot bread weather!

Quick Easy Fish Stew

  • 6 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1.5 cups)
  • 3 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 2/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1-14oz can of whole or crushed tomatoes with their juices OR 1.5 cups of fresh chopped tomato
  • 2 tsp tomato paste
  • 8 oz clam juice (or shellfish stock)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (like Sauvignon blanc)
  • 1/4 pounds fish fillets (firm fish), cut into 2-inch pieces
  • Pinch of dry oregano
  • Pinch of dry thyme
  • 1/8 ttsp Tabasco sauce (or more to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper (more to taste)
  • 1 tsp salt (more to taste)
  1. Heat olive oil in a large thick-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and saute 4 minutes, add the garlic and cook a minute more. Add parsley and stir 2 minutes. Add tomato and tomato paste, and gently cook for 10 minutes or so.
  2. Add clam juice, dry white wine, and fish. Bring to a simmer and simmer until the fish is cooked through and easily flakes apart, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add seasoning - salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, Tabasco. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Ladle into bowls and serve.

Great served with crusty bread for dipping in the fish stew broth.

NOTE: FOr a variation, add 1/2 pound of shrimp, mussels, clams, and/or scallops to the stew. If adding shellfish, add them a couple minutes befoer the fish; they need more time to cook and open.

Wishing you a stress-free and enjoyable weekend!

To people who think their request is the singular most important thing I have to do and follow up daily for updates.  I'll update you when there is something to update, until then EFF OFF.  Thank you.

Honestly I love fish and sushi but not fish stew.  Probably just never tasted a good one.  We are planning a backyard grilling weekend - burgers tomorrow and a rotiserrie chicken on Sunday.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Caninelover, I have been dealing with that "my request is the singular most important thing" all week! I had someone email and tell me that Goofball's request was going to fail because the documentation attached to the request had a different flibbertygibbet number than what Goofball put on the request. And that I should ask Goofball XYZ questions. Nope. Not happening. WHEN Goofball's request is denied, the person assigned to do the work can tell Goofball why. My job is complete the request with the info supplied.

Mmmmmm.... sushi. Haven't had good sushi in forever. Oh, I luuuuuuuuuvvvvv fish soup/stew/chowder! I'm a Finn and often make a traditional salmon soup (Lohikeitto). The first time I started making it, my DH was all "eeeewww". He now bugs me constantly, "Baby, when are you making Lohikeitto again?" Biggrin

A Filipino variaion of this is Fish Head Soup made with Salmon: called Sinagang

 - Salmon heads and filets

- Ginger

- Garlic

 - Bay Leave

- Either Bok Choy or Napa cabbage

- Squeeze of lemon

At first I was like "ewe" but now I love it. Sometimes served with other veggies like okra and sometimes served over rice with Patis.

DH cooks this for me and feels nostalic for his mom.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

It's basically salmon soup with carrots and potatoes. I make my own fish stock and usually bake beer bread to go with it. DH initially poopoo'd it... until he came home to a tantalizing aroma and begged for a taste. *biggrin*

DH is making burgers & fries with a side salad tonight.  i think I can actually help him season them as my hip is getting better each day.  I can sit up, at least propped with some pillows now for part of the day!

I cannot wait to clean this enitre house!  Well, at least the living areas.  You should see my cupboards and fridge; total chaos.  DH has been great but he's not organized at al.  LOL

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Mmmmm.... burgers. My DH makes fantabulous burgers. They're a rare treat because he loathes cooking!

Yay!!! So glad you continue to improve! *yahoo*

"The Drying Dingleberry Pulling A Short & Curly"

I so admire your work today, this is a statement of sheer perfection.
My Eff offs are to work, work and more work. I wonder how many more times I can get screwed by this place before I should start charging!

Oooooooooohhh yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!

A general EFF OFF to people who don't know what they are doing, and yet go merrily along. I work in the grants business, so lots of grant agreements, contracts, etc. One organization just sent me an agreement with references to federal rules that are seven years old. We no longer follow the old rules, so why would I sign off on the agreement saying we do? So I supplied all the right rules, documents, current dates, links to everything. Something like seven different references.

And one of the requirements directly contradicts a federal requirement. I pointed that out too and provided alternate language.

AND I'M THE PROBLEM now apparently for holding things up. Probably because the other party now has to go back to their legal counsel and admit to being SEVEN YEARS out of date. Not my problem.

FORN--DH said he'd make strip steak tonight, but he said that last night too. We'll see. If he gets lazy I have a fridge full of fresh veggies and roasted veggies and smoked chicken, and I'll be happy with a big bowl of salad.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Ermagawd, right?! WE are at fault because others dropped the effing ball. Horsepuckey!

I can always eat a big bowl of salad. *beee*

A big Eff Off to Headaches & Allergies & Stress.

Forn ideation focused on a shrimp burrito from a local, family-owned Mexican restaurant that has this killer burrito with big grilled shrimps in rice with some kind of creme sauce... it's the BOMB when I eat the first 1/2, then even MORE BOMB later as leftovers, after all the flavors cross-mojinate. SoooooOOOOoo yummy.

Unfortch thanks to this gnarley headache I've had since yesterday... not even hungry.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Some things are all that much better after cross-mojinating!

SU. I hope your headache skedaddles asap. *give_rose*

StepUltimate's picture

Thank you Aniki, it finally went away.

Also, I did end up getting a shrimp burrito last night! IT WAS ALL THAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!

Biggrin

Eff off death, eff off pain, eff off exhaustion.

My daughter lost one of her guinea pigs Wednesday.  We don't know the exact cause of death.  She was 7, old for a guinea pig, so it wasn't a complete surprise.  I noticed there was a serious problem Tuesday and called the vet right away.  I took her to the vet Wednesday morning.  He suspected an infection and arthritis, along with an ovarian cyst.  Due to her age he didn't feel that she would survive anything requiring sedation.  He was probably right.  He gave me an antibiotic and pain medicine to give her.  Her mobility was pretty much gone by end of day Wednesday.  After she refused to eat anything, even lettuce, which she loved, my daughter and I took turns holding her.  In the end, she was laying in my lap.  I petted her, told her we loved her, wanted her to stay if she could, and we would miss her.  She passed away in my lap.

Her cagemate is no spring chicken at 6 years old but she isn't showing her age much if at all.  She is still energetic as ever and of course very much loved and very spoiled, just like the other one was.  Hence my screen name.  Anyway, as guinea pigs are social animals, my daughter decided we needed to go ahead and get a friend or two for the remaining guinea pig.  She is worried that the six year old will get lonely and depressed if we don't, and I agree.   So we went today and got two more guinea pigs.  We'll introduce them in a week or so and hope they'll get along.  So we have two new fur babies to spoil.

Eff off to pain and exhaustion because of all the crying I've done gave me a bad headache and made me extremely tired.  My DD had a bad headache too from crying as well.  I've felt useless, helpless, and frozen but still had to function.  I've been able to function today but still cry.  I hate death.

they are funny little critters and so adorable!! We had dwarf hamsters when stationed in Germany and old Harry the Hamster would hang out in the breast pocket of my flannel jammies with me. He chattered at my son, his owner so to speak. Harry survived the cage mate that was destroying his siblings and he even survived the 100 year heat in Germany with temps up to or at 100F. Harry was a tiny miracle, loved me, born on Fathers Day and passed on Valentines Day, less than a year later if I recall correctly.

Guineas rock though! Sweet! Wish we could see pics on here!

Enjoy!

Sorry about jerk vet ;-(

StepUltimate's picture

They're such funny little creatures, hard to see them decline & go. It sounds like your daughter's guinea pig had a wonderful, loving life right up to her final breath; living a long happy life where she was cared for & loved. I am so sorry for your loss, and hope that soon your tears of sadness will become smiles & laughter at all the great memories.

Also proud of you for getting younger buddies for the other one.

PetSpoiler's picture

Eff off to the on-call vet when I called Wednesday.  Could it have killed you to have shown some compassion when I called you, clearly distressed about my guinea pig?  Why would you not have a number for an emergency exotics vet instead of telling me I was welcome to bring her in the next morning?  Too little, too late.  Bite me!

EFF off to anyone (namely current generation of imbiciles) that start a sentence or end a statement with 'Obviously.' Nothing personal happened, it's language both written and spoken, that is not value-added other than calling the reader(s) straight up dumb. Not nice at all. They are their own worst enemies and should go back to eating Tide Pods insead of putting Gorilla Glue in their hair. LOL!

EFF off to thunderstorms, flash floods, and the EFF''ing tornado that hit us...and the lightning that hit my building the day prior. I slept through all the shenanigans.

EFF off to pets not being immortal! My old pup crossed the rainbow bridge exactly 5 weeks ago & I still cry for her sweet soul. She was 14 1/2 yrs old, long haired dachshund, short version of golden retriever. She's the one that DaughterWife wouldn't take out to potty in the backyard and my dog wouldn't come out of her crate for the exNarcH. He asked me why and I told him she hates him too....oooohhh!...he heard the 'too.' Oopsie, slip of the tongue, my bad! haha! This is the first time I've been without a pet (or 3 or 4) since 1992. I bought plants this week. I need something to nurture. Wish me luck.

EFF off to the idiots at the VA for not indicating which breast to have recheck mammo and ultrasound to make sure the four lumps that were removed 3 months ago are all gone with no outliers. Surgeon was expecting one small lump...surprise surprise!

EFF off to the angry ugly woman'ish person that blows up my emails with threats. Yes, I broke the lease to the office space I rented back in Sept. The other tenets bailed out too. That horrid angry woman is the bitch for the family of crooks (landlords, prison time included) and little does she know that I've survived war and survived the exNarcH and his DaughterWife and their infected clan of manipulators. Angry woman attempts to get a rise out of me and guess what? I refuse reply or acknowledge such unprofessional communication. Email rants to include CAP letters in some type of illogical word vomit. I only see part of the first sentenance in the preview pane of the email and do not even open any of her dozen or so emails. Over WHAT you ask? The mailbox key to my unit. The bank of mailboxes are external to the building so I keep checking my mail. I'm keeping the mailbox key to retrieve checks from the insurance companies that I contract with for my business. She's irrational as evidenced by her combative communications for even small inquiries from tenants while we were still in the office spaces. Anyway, the USPS clerk and USPS supervisor advised me to hold onto the mailbox key until all my important mail is forwarded. BTW, the landlord does not own the mailbox key. After surviving step hell....now it's easy for me to shrug my shoulders and tell myself how that angry, irrational, bitter, unhappy bitch is nothing to me (she's NOT the landlord, just the bitch for the family) and I don't owe her a reply to anything. She's nothing to me. The fornal business letter I sent to the landlord several weeks ago stated what I needed to say, in a very professional manner. That bitch is one email short of getting a restraining order slapped on her. I picked up the forms yesterday. She can EFF off.

Friday night dinner/Forn for this girl was from Marble Slab Creamery...chocolate swiss ice cream with mix-in's of graham crackers, mini marshmallows, walnuts, and cookie dough thingies...topped with rainbow sprinkles/jimmies.

Peace out folks, have a beautiful weekend!

ExhaustedByItAll's picture

Our car that was old enough to drink in Vegas finally kicked the bucket. Found a new car, went to get financing, in a week, they haven't managed to send the payment through to the dealership, one f-up after another with the paperwork left me running around like a mad person on Friday trying to get it all handled while in non-stop back to back to back to back work meetings, and it still didn't go through yet, I still do not have a new car and the financing people don't work weekends!! I have settled mortgages faster than this! Ugh!!

And EFF OFF big time to my department head. At 8:00 Friday morning the jackass had the audacity to ask me if I had done some menial task that has no impact on anything. No dear jackass, I haven't done it because while I've been on sick leave for the past two days also taking care of a sick toddler (which you were fully aware of) I've had to manage the other 20 effing fires you threw at me!

EFF off to all of it, ringing in the weekend with a bottle or so of my favorite wine! Happy weekend y'all!
