OT - Thankful Thursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Happy Friday Eve, STalkers! It's a crazy world we're living in and it's not always easy to find things for which we are thankful. Here goes...

I am thankful for:

  • Waking up today.
  • Weak eyes, a cranky back, and a variety of aches and pains. At least everything is functioning!
  • STalk and the STalkers. xoxo
  • My job. As loathsome as King Pita is, I love what I do and am good at it.
  • Wedding dress shopping with SD24 this past Saturday. It was a lovely time, she found the perfect dress, veil, and shoes, AND a Thank You card arrived from her yesterday! I'm treasuring this moment.
  • My DH. I love how he just "rolls" with it. No issues. Psycho exh would blow a gasket if I didn't cook dinner as originally planned. My DH? "Baby, tell me what you want and I'll buy you dinner." Bonus: I got a foot massage for dessert. <3

And on a final note, for those who are struggling (I have my days), here is a little something to think about...

Give yourself permission to think about the times it was bad. The times he treated you with indifference.
Give yourself permission to think about the ending instead of the fairytale moments your heart holds on to.

Aniki, your DH needs to teach a seminar on how to recover from being a Disney Dad. He'd make bank and then you could quit that job of yours.

Anyway, I don't know that I want to list what I'm thankful for. I think I need to take some time and actually appreciate what I have. I had a mini-b**ch fest yesterday over a very first world problem, and I need to make a swift realignment with what's important and be grateful for all the good that has happened as of late.

Lt Dad, if only! The only way to get hi to speak in public would be to get him drunk. LOL! If we could do a Freaky Friday kinda thing and I could inhabit his body and do that seminar... The job would be hella better if that fackwit KP would move off planet.

I have those moments. xoxo *give_rose*

Happy TT Aniki. Today I am thankful that this is a short week, that most of my family and friends have been vaccinated, that our state it finally starting to open back up so we can get back to more normal. And lastly I am thankful for getting a trip away with DH for a few days just the two of us.

Advice, lucky you, having that short week! I hope you and your DH have a wondeful getaway. *drinks*

for everyone in my family recovering from COVID.  We are now relatively healthy.

I am thankful spring is here....the grass is green and the trees are starting to bud.  Bring on Summer...sorry  Aniki..not a winter gal here.  Bring on the hot weather, bare feet and lush green lawns.

Halo, glad to hear all on recovering. *yahoo*

No apologies, darlin'. We all have our faults (jk!). Seriously though; if we were all the same, life would be awfully boring. *fool*

Thankful for my job and that I have a boss who lets me know I am an appreciated member of the team.  Thankful that I've managed to avoid Covid and am days away from my second dose of the vaccine. Thankful for the health of my SO, my kids and grandkids. I am blessed!  Thanks, Aniki, for encouraging us to take a moment to focus on the good.

Steppedonnomore, you are fortunate to have a boss who does that. Too often, the positive is overlooked and only the negative is mentioned.

You're welcome! *give_rose*

Thankful for my awesome job.

For my health. Vaccinations complete, my arm is sore from whatever, but I can still function. Everything else is GREAT.

For my DH who took us out for sushi last night.

For my home that I love, that we sort of own Biggrin

For the green hills, budding trees, and the beginning of salmon season here on the west coast. Which means that DH will be BUSY and I can do my own THANG.

ALWAYS thankful for you and Steptalk.

I go into work physically a couple times a month (will increase soon to once a week) and every time I got take out from the sushi place across the street from my office.  It's a big, delicous sushi bowl filled with rice, salad and sushi. too big for me to finish on my own so I eat the fish first then whatever else until I'm stuffed. I generally don't eat dinner those nights.  Yum!

I am thankful for my piano teacher. I started taking lessons again after a 40+ year hiatus. My talent level, on a scale of 1 to 10 is about a 5.5. But I enjoy it.

Anyway, back to the teacher. She is about my age, and patient and encouraging. She didn't really want to take on an adult student, but agreed since I'd had lessons before and had no expectation of it being easy.  I admire music teachers of all varieties in that they have good musical ability and ears yet can tolerate some pretty terrible sounds from their students, on the regular. I find it remarkable.

One good thing related to this has come from COVID. She had to move her studio out of a group site and into her home. I'd been to her home a few times preCOVID and was always disappointed when her two cats would run out of the room. Now that I'm there every week, and after several months of turning myself inside out to make nice with these animals, both cats will now let me pet them. One will sometimes sit next to me. Then they walk away with that air of disdain.

Merry, I used to play piano. But I had bilateral carpal tunnel and was unable to play for years. That, and psycho exh demanded custody of the piano (which he could not play). I truly miss it.

It's a happy moment when fickle felines finally fall for 'ffection. Wink

Thankful for some warmer (relatively at least) weather with sun! Even just for a couple days.

Thankful I took two days off work earlier this week for a long weekend, need to do more of that.

Thankful I got some good gardening in over the last couple days!  Not much more to do than maintenance and planting a bunch of lavendar in one corner of the yard then it's hammock time this summer!

Thankful it's already Thursday!

Cover, we just had some snow, but will be heating up to mid-50s tomorrow. That's shorts weather!

Mmmmmmm..... lavender. Is it the edible kind or only for drying into potpourri?

Cover1W's picture

I'm going to plant several kinds!  Like a mini-lavendar extravaganza. It's a wierd unused space with poor soil and.....deer.  Lots of deer and they won't touch it. It's also going to be near our new outdoor seating area.

I have some dried, edible lavender and would like to make lemonade and some lavender cupcakes with honey frosting. Smile
