OT - Eff Off Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

TGIF, STalkers!!! Short one today...

Eff off to:

  • DMV. An-effin-noying, any way you look at it.
  • Attention seekers. Most especially, cryptic attention seekers. You cry for help with the sole purpose of others asking "what's wrong". No, I am NOT coming over to help you unless you damn well tell me what I'm walking into. Try the police cuz I'm not biting.

Wishing you a stress-free and enjoyable weekend! Who else has Monday off? Woo hoo!!!

*  Eff off to YOU KNOW WHAT.

* Eff off to my department person who hasn't got my budget drafts back to me yet for her department for the next FY. Due to MY boss in 5 hours. Basically this is rapidly diminishing my time to get the final versions done. She's new, I get that. Had to let my boss know I don't have them yet - luckily she said she'd use my drafts (she thinks they are good) in worst case.

* Chain reactions - I have a lot to do and if those budgets come in last minute I have to drop the OTHER stuff I need to get done today.

BUT:  THREE DAY WEEKEND!

* Eff off to vaction/sick leave caps - I suspect this will be a problem for many employers this coming year. I MUST start using this time or I start losing it. So I'm going to get some 3 and 4 day weekends (skid free) on the calendar startig in March. So that's a reversal of Eff Off.

You Know What makes Evil Aniki want to don ass-kicking boots and studded leather and dole out a few Flying Five Fist Monkey Nut/Twunt Punches. *diablo*

Don't get me started on the DMV!  It seems like an impossible memory now that it's so cold out but last July, DH had to renew his driver's license.  I hadn't realized that we had to make an appointment at most of the DMV offices.  So we drove around for 3 days to find one without appointments or hideously long lines.  Finally found one and the line outside was only 30 people.  So we (83 yo DH with cancer and 75 yo me) stood in line outside in 98 degree weather for 45 minutes.  Even worse, there was a person in a wheelchair behind us.  Crazy.  By December when I went, things were much better.

Eff Off to getting 'voluntold' for stuff.  My company has a mentoring program.  I've seen the emails and didn't want to participate (I only plan to work another year or two and am trying to minimize raising my hand for stuff).  Apparently the program is short on mentors this year and my boss called me and 'asked' me if I would consider participating.  In other words - voluntold to participate.  Sigh.  I can't wait to be done with this corporate BS.

Eff Off to Bratty McBratFace.  She texts SO on SuperBowl Sunday complaining about her uncle and wanting a phone call with SO.  Of course it was SuperBowl Sunday and he was already three sheets to the wind so he's like no.  Bratty really needs to learn appropriate timing.

TGIF and yes its a long weekend for me with Monday off!  Woo Hoo!

Voluntold ticks me right off. I worked for a company that tried to do that to me for a summertime company picnic. In charge of kiddie games when I had no kids. So I was "sick" the day of the picnic. *diablo*  Didn't like most of those effers anyway.

I avoid the company picnic and holiday party like it was a plague superspreader event.

I went to that stuff when younger but at this point in my life I don't need the social aspects of office life at all!

After that, I made it a point to refuse to attend any event where children and/alcohol were involved.

That I was voluntold to fill out - asks to list hobbies.  If I write in 'Torturing small animals and devil worship' do you think that would get me off the hook LOL

Eff off to work.  I'll be working again this weekend due to stupid work loads.

Eff off to hard lockdowns.  This isn't the first time I've b*tched about this but I'm sick of being at home.

Hurrah for plans for a nice dinner.  I'm definitely cracking open a nice bottle of wine.

Many are suffering from the lockdowns. As an introvert, I'm not as affected, but it puts a dent in my activities now and again. For school kids and extroverts and, most especially, those in abusive situations? OMG. *cray2*

What kind of wine?

TheAccidentalSM's picture

It was rose last night but we are having prosecco tonight with the curry.  Sparkling wine is great with spicy food.

I'm mostly an introvert but my favorite thing to do on a Saturday afternoon is  to go to a cafe or wine bar on my own with a book and spend an hour reading and sipping wine.  I stick headphones on.  So its like being on my own but surrounded by the world.  This is the one thing I'm really missing during this lockdown.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Before the lockdown, I did almost the same thing at one of my favorite bars (martini or manhattan). That's the one thing I miss

Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Sounds like we may be coming out of strict lockdown here some time around easter.  Hopefully, it won't turn into a complete fiasco like the Christmas easing of restrictions.  (3 days of complete free for all followed by 3 to 4 months of being made to stay at home)

Aniki-Moderator's picture

I'll wait. As much as I miss those occasional outings, things will need to be open longer.

I agree.

No real specifics here, just eff off to this week. Not trying to vague post, there is just so much crap right now that needs to eff off and it's hard to talk about it all since most of it is job related.
