We don't have Mardi Gras, here in the UK, but in common with Ireland, Australia and Canada, we have Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day - guess what we eat today?  Apparently it's a throwback to when people would use up their eggs, milk and sugar before the 40 days of fasting before Lent.

We usually do Mardi Gras, but DH is on travel and SD has dance, so I'm just making dirty rice with some cornbread and poor mans king cake (cinnamon roles)

I live in Provence and the best bit about Mardi Gras is that the next day you get to eat aioli garni - salt cod, steamed potatoes, carrots, green beans, artichokes and boiled eggs with a garlic mayonnaise. Not that I limit myself to Ash Wednesday, of course, Ijust absolutely love aioli lol

Aww, I love Mard Gras!  I used to go to NOLA for Mardi Gras year.  I had friends that lived there and it was an amazing time!  Unfortunately they broke up and moved away from NOLA.

Hopefully I'll get back there one of these years...
