SD 17 truant updated

Chmmy's picture
  • Update:  I believe dadddeeee called her in and mommmmeeee brought her lunch because she was on the phone last night til 1am telling her boss how sad she is. She said she cries everyday before and after school...what? I doubt it...and ruin her fukin make up. I call bull shit.
  • Anyway sd & bm had lunch at my kitchen table while i was out at grocery store. I actually said it was ok. My sons' bio dad used to visit the boys at my house. I wasnt married but Im trying to be accommodating. It is SDs house too she is entitled to her mother as a guest..

When Sd17 is tired from her big weekend, she calls dadddeeeee on Monday morning AGAIN... "Can you call me in to school?" Believe it or not this time he said NO...SHOCKER I KNOW. Sd17 turned off her phone and went back to sleep. Lol. DH is beside himself that she's not answering her phone so he asks me to get involved because im home. I said i don't feel comfortable. I said just keep calling her til she answers and deal with it. Then he texts me that he's getting anxious. (Well so am I) This was my answer:

What is making you anxious? Shes fucking ignoring you because you have never given her a consequence in her life. She called me stupid & lazy, told me she was going to put herself in the ground because of me, she slapped you, said she "fucking hates that bitch" refering to me and her consequence was ONE WEEK of no license. You know damn right your dad woulda put you in a coma lasting longer than a week

His only response, "i understand". I bet he called her in. Dumb ass. Im curious what the laws are for this. My girlfriend said her daughter ditched and she sent a sheriff to the house she was at to pick her up. I dont know about things loke that cuz my kids never pulled this shit. My oldest would be late occasionally but never just didnt go. I also have an engineer bs25 and an actuary bs 23.. These kids will never be anything like them.

Around here, you have to be truant for a really long time before they do anything about it.

Good for you for staying out of it, what did he want you to do? Drag her out of bed?

The first time he wanted me to make sure she is awake. The 2nd time he said he was getting anxious he wanted me to check on her. Fuck no. Thats when i sent him the message about her ignoring him cuz she knows nothing will happen.

Spawn missed pretty much most of her senior year, it wasn't until a month before graduation that the school contacted DH to let him know that she was in danger of not graduating and that continued tardies and missed days could result in her "possibly" not being able to participate in senior activities.

Guess who graduated with a 17% in one of her classes and got to go to all the senior activities...here's the thing schools don't care. They pass them on so they can become a burden on society.

Yes, same with my SS19. Barely went to school, late all the time when he did, but they let him graduate. They weren't going to let him ruin their 4-year graduation rate.

SD 20 didnt graduate. She missed out on graduation only still got to go to prom and everything else. and we didnt throw her a party so no gifts. She went to summer school and graduated. Shes a waitress now trying to get into a program at a college and cant pass the test. Bunch of dum asses. My kids were so smart & mostly responsible in HS so this is all new to me

I have quite a bit of experience with truancy being that I did it all the time in high school myself lol.

Technically if shes under 18 its illegal for her to not be at school without being excused. So yes, DH could have an officer go tell her she needs to go to school. The school themselves wont do much until it's a bunch of absences and by then she will probably be 18 almost anyway.

I'm sure your DH is anxious because she acts mentally unstable and it makes him wonder what shes doing when shes not answering.

It depends on where you live - here, you can drop out the end of the year you turn 16 in some districts. Others, it's the end of year you turn 17. So she may be able to legally drop out at this point. When they reach that age, they don't chase them around for truancy anymore.

True, I forget not everyone here lives in the US. As far as I know there aren't any states here that let you drop out before 18 on your own or 16/17 with a parents permission unless you're emancipated.

I'm in New York. The state law is you can drop out at the end of the year you turn 16.  Districts have an option to increase that to the end of the year you turn 17. No parental consent required.

Oh okay. I was thinking you were in canada for some reason, maybe I got you mixed up with someone else.

tog redux's picture

My DH is Canadian, that's probably why! NY has some idiotic antiquated laws, and this is one of them.

Once they are legal to drop out, though - there is no more "truancy" because it's not illegal for them to miss school.  What is the legal drop out age in your area?

Chmmy's picture

I dont know. I remember son saying something about 18 cuz he said he could call himself in when hes 18 and i told him i can still kick his ass when hes 18 lol. He ended up graduating early so he was 17 when he went to college!

Chmmy's picture

There has to be some sort of consequences from detention or suspension. No making up work? Something?

Its the snowfalke generation

Chmmy's picture

Yep. I could care less. If she fails no graduation party, no graduation pics. Saves us money and sd 20 paid for her summer school fees unless dh lied. We werent married or living together yet. If she goes to summer school it gets her ugly ass out of my house for an extra 2 months

The next time she's truant and he texts you, tell him to have the police go check on her.

Wow that was very generous of you. Anytime Meth Mouth dared to show up on our property we called the cops on her, but then we had to because she was a raging meth addict who liked to show up at peoples houses and try to break the door down with a tire iron and beat them with it.

That was nice of you to let BM have a meal with her at your kitchen table. God your SD is an attention seeker!
