DH working, thinking about baby

DH is now on his 4th day of work and it's going well.  The commute stinks - between 50 mins and an hour 20 mins each way.  We traded in our 2015 BMW X3 (paid off) and got a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid ($150/mo payment which we will pay off when we get our tax refund - The BMW took premium gas and got 15mpg in stop start traffic, the hybrid takes regular gas and has been getting 40mpg).  The Toyota also has this cool cruise control lane assist where we set it and it basically drives for you (stays in the line, speeds up, slows down, stops, etc along with the cars in your lane).  A lot of his ride is 20mph or stop start traffic so this has been great on those early mornings.  The unfortunate thing is a lot more now falls to me, and my job hasn't gotten any less demanding or stressful.  Now I have to take the dogs out in the morning, if he is going to work late make sure I'm home in time to take them out or go home at lunch, think about dinner, do the little things around the house, etc.  BUT it comes with a paycheck after many years so I'll take it!  I just hope it doesn't become "well my job is bigger and more important so you figure it out".  I manage the whole northeast for my division, but he manages to whole USA for his (CTO) so technically he would be right but he only makes twice as much as me.

The other news is we are now trying for a baby - LOL I certainly didn't waste any time.  I went to a new OBGYN yesterday for my annual and also had a "pre-conception consult" where we talked all about how to make this work, ways to optimize chances, etc.  She gave me some lab papers to get some blood tests (tests for genetic markers for cystic fibrosis, sickle cell, and a few other things).  I've been on birth control for 15 years and went off it a month ago.  I've been tracking my cycle (to try and see when it gets regular) with an app and bought a bluetooth syncing thermometer that automatically syncs to the app for basal temp.  Unfortunately I just got my period today so no first month luck.  I wans't expecting to get pregnant first try though since I've been on BC for so long, I have no idea when/if I'm ovulating or even how long my cycle is (3 month pill cycle)

I've lost 15 pounds since December (now 5'7 and 168) so I'm going to keep working out, eating healthier, and trying to time things and hope to get lucky.  I would like to stay home for a few years with the baby, even if it means making sacrifices (moving to a smaller house closer to DH's work, for example) which DH is totally open to.  He is on board with the baby and excited.

I've "wasted" nearly 4 years since we've been married waiting for him to be in a financial position for me to be able to have a child, so I hope it goes OK.  I'll be 32 in 2 months, so I'm still fairly young.  DH is 54.  Fingers crossed Smile

Best of luck to you!

TTC was very hard for me. I was only 22 when I was told to give up and just adopt by my gyno. Just make sure you listen to your body and if you don't like what your doc is say- go to a different doctor. Don't get caught up in the stress of it all either, you will mess yourself up that way too!

I was 34 when my son was born. Good luck to you! And keep up with the healthy living because pregnancy over 30 sucks hairy donkey balls. Biggrin
