OT - Women Wednesday
You and Jane are going out for the evening. Jane asks you to help her choose an outfit. She puts on a dress that is pretty, but absolutely HIDEOUS on Jane. “How do I look, Aniki?”
Evil Aniki thinks, “Jane, you look like a stack of tires and that color make you look like you’re about to barf.”
Nice Aniki says, “Jane, that’s a pretty dress but you have other outfits that are much more flattering. What about that blue wrap dress that showcases the ‘girls’ and makes your skin look so warm and creamy?”
(No, I’m NOT hitting on Jane. I’m trying to keep her from making a fashion disaster!)
All of us have been guilty of tearing down, at one time or another. We look for the negative instead of the positive. And it can become an ugly habit. Maybe you don’t say it to someone’s face, but you say it behind her back. We give a discouraging opinion instead of trying to put a positive spin on the negative and make the words less hurtful and more helpful. You can be honest without being mean. You can be positive without being hurtful.
Did you notice that if you frequently let out your Evil side that you often start using it against yourself? NO ONE is meaner to me than I am to myself and I am absolutely BRUTAL. Maybe that’s WHY I try to put a positive spin on the negative and find ways to let my friends know there are better choices. No, I’m not talking about just clothes. Women are powerful creatures. As such, we should empower one another – not tear each other down.
How about some phrases to uplift each other? Things we can use to try and feel better about ourselves?

The question isn’t who’s going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me. ~ Ayn Rand

You are, too, sweetness.
Personally one of my greatest
Personally one of my greatest dissappointments with my SDs is they never learned the lessons we tried to teach them about being strong , independent, beautiful women. So I’m chiming in to lift up any of you that are even half questioning your worth, and hopefully give you a little chuckle.
“Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.” – Charlotte Whitton
Thank you, Major!!
Thank you, Major!!
It's never too late. I hope that some day your SDs learn those lessons.

Fred has awesome moobs, he
Fred has awesome moobs, he just needs to shave them more often lol
It's a good reminder. I
It's a good reminder. I think sometimes women are too hard on our selves and self depreciating.
Shoot, just yesterday we were in a meeting with a consultant who was giving us some ideas on how to do some of our business better and I threw out an idea. The Consultant jumped on it and said that was a GREAT idea.. my boss did too.
What did I say.. (one who uses humor to deflect?) "I think this idea falls into the category of "even a blind squirel can find a nut".. After I said it I thought "why did you make fun of yourself and minimize your contribution to your group? Is it because you have a couple of male coworkers that are seriously Type A and tend to run over people and their ideas? possibly. Is it that I'm the only woman and not an engineer so feel my input might be "silly"? Sure. But, I should have stopped before I said that.. because in my eyes it kind of reduced my own value..
Yes, ESMOD, you reduced your
Yes, ESMOD, you reduced your value in your eyes.
The Consultant said it was a GREAT idea. Remember that!!! xoxo
