Door slamming, "I know", "I will", "I can't" ... I AM SO DONE WITH ALL 4 ...

meanpocahontas's picture

Ok so my 14SD has a very bad habit of slamming doors amongst her famous words such as, "I know, I will and I can't". All of which she has uttered today.

Now what really pisses me off the most today is the front door that she constantly slams so hard as she did today. She has single handedly slammed it so hard so much that the door seal has come loose and she has loosened the wood framing around it. Of course when you tell her to stop slamming the door she says "I didn't". Well I promised myself that I was going to try and keep my composure, and I did. I just calmly grabbed the drill walked my ass up the stairs to her bedroom door, opened it up, unscrewed all of the hinges, put the screw in a baggie, took the door down stairs and put it in the garage and went back to trying to just download and relax for a few while sitting in front of the big screen. All the while she was in the kitchen making a mess and eating a freaking snack. So she picks up a little bit after herself and tries to tell me that I needed to do something, I tell her no I don't, she starts her blah blah blah BS and I just look at her and dont say a word and walk out into the garage. She eventually made her way up to her doorless room and was in shock. For once she had nothing to say. She's now sitting in her room with no door sulking, sitting on floor at the foot of her bed.

Let's see what becomes of this and how long it will last. By doing this I not parenting I am teaching, so just call me the teacher.

Living it up a little and loving it.

Good for you!!! I hope you don't put the door back for a couple of weeks. If you do it sooner she will probably resort to slamming doors again.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO UNSCREW HINGES, OR TAKE OUT SCREWS...TAKE THE "PINS" 2 ON EACH DOOR..OUT.. THAT HOLDS BOTH HINGES TOGETHER..SLIGHTLY OPEN THE DOOR...ITS AT THE TOP...BETWEEN BOTH HINGES.(LOOKS LIKE A GIANT NAIL) HOLDS HINGES TOGETHER....IT SLIDES OUT...USE A SCREW DRIVER TO PULL IT UP......EASYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Actally its quite legal remove doors from bedrooms. A girl can get privacy in the bathroom. Ever watch World Strictest Parents? Awesome show btw.

Its completely alright. Heck you can remove everything but a mattress with bedding...to prove point. Yes, I would assume the punishment fit the crime. Crime not being stealing a tictac.

My friend got caught sneaking out by her parents and they straight up moved her bed into their room for a month.

We have removed doors with our kids before. Privacy is a privilege that you have to earn.
