Weekend Alone

smcpaw's picture

Thanks everyone for their comments on being able to request one weekend a month where my daughter stays with her dad, grandmother, friend or godparents. My daughter spent the weekend at her grandmothers (Friday night from 8:00 p.m. until Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.). She seemed to take it better this month than last month. I just want a break once a month. She seems to understand this a little better this month. Thanks to all for their advice, but I would never let my daughter stay at the house alone.

Calling all moms with boys!

dbsojo's picture

As usual, I need help, and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Here's the deal: I'm in the midst of trying to plan a WWE (pro wrestling) birthday party. Anyone who has tried to do this in the past several years knows what's coming next. I need, in particlular, some ideas for games and decorations (I've totally given up on supplies!). I've got the cake figured out (a 3-D wrestling ring), and a pin the belt on the champ. If anybody has any ideas, I would love to hear them.

Thanks!

isn't this weird? or is it just me?

I've mentioned before in my blog that my boyfriend's family still acts like his ex is still his wife. Well, when bf was on the phone yesterday to his mom, she told him that the ex is coming to stay with her for a week in August (in England) and then go to France to stay with bf's dad for a week.

Two notes: 1) bf hasn't spoken to his father in several years, though ex still has contact with him. 2) Ex and bf have a three-year-old daughter together, so I guess the trip is supossed to be for her (Even though she's too young to remeber much of it).

SD is movin' on!

glynne's picture

Hi, I wanted to update my blog. My SD is now out of the house, living with BM and has found shared housing for next month. YEAH!!! My husband and I are planning a get away and our marriage not only survived the SD's attempts at driving us apart and making me the bad guy - I think it is stronger. We're having fun again - we're able to laugh again. I have no contact with SD and that's a good thing - for now. I'm contemplating on ways to build a bridge yet still keep boundaries. I think my 1st attempt will be an Easter brunch.

Does it have to be bad???

You know I have been on both sides of the step parenting issue. My ex and I divorced when my sons were very young. Call me crazy but I always hoped when my EX was involved with someone that she would like my sons. I did everything I could to encourage their relationship with her. It made me and them I think both feel better. I didn't have to worry about them getting their feelings hurt because the new girlfriend was acting like she didn't want them around or like them etc. or was mean to them. It just made things easier for me.

How much notice is required when not taking your kid for the designated school break?

missangie1978's picture

So as of last week the ex had decided that she didn't want ss to come down during spring break (I think it was a money issue and she thought she'd be moving back by than). Well my fiancee and I had planned on taking that week off so that we could go somewhere and have some time together and when we found out she wasn't going to have him come down we cancelled our plans.

And the nightmare continues....please tell me if I am overreacting to this

So we were able to get all three kids off with their other bio parents for the weekend and BF and I decided to take a weekend trip out of town. We went about 3 hours away to visit a city BF had never been and one I hadn't been to in years. Anyway, alls well in the car on the way. We get to the hotel check in, go in the room, take a shower...getting ready for bed.

any advice would be appreciated

my stepson made me cry the other day when i went to pick him up from school. i was looking forward to seeing him b/c my husband and i have been working so much lately, we have only been able to see him one day each week, when we normally have two or three. we have really missed him, and he called us the night before crying and freaking out. he wanted us to come pick him up that night, but his dad had to be at work, and i had to be in class, and he had to be at school very early the next day.

What's the point?

kim1960's picture

Last week BF asked BM to be able to see his son Saturday from 12-5. She said yes and he emailed back saying that he would pick him up at Shop N Save (the usual drop off /pick up point) at 12:00. She said NO you have to come to her house. He said NO I will pick him up at the usual place. She said she had placed a call to her attorney and would advise him. The next thing you know BF is getting a call from his attorney saying he needs to negotiate a pick up point/drop off point for Saturday. At $280 an hour for the attorney you can imagine what this would cost.
