Injured spouse form- Quick Question & Cheap Place to get taxes done?

Do I need to go to a tax office to have this done?

Or can I file online like I do (for free) and then do the form then? Or is the form seperate and I have to mail a hard copy?

I always do my taxes online and never have to pay.

This is the first year that DH and I are married, which wouldnt be such a big deal in doing the taxes but he owes BM some arrears so I want to file the "Injured Spouse" form.

Also we have an appointment at H&R Block, but they are so expensive. Have any of you been to other places that were good but a lot cheaper?

Yes, you can file electronically.

DH owes arrears in CS. If I file the injured spouse form I will receive "my" portion of the income tax refund. His portion will go to BM to pay towards the arrears.

Can't you just file separately? We did this the first year we were married because he owed for cashing out a 401k a few years before we got married. I didn't want my taxes taken so we filed married but separate.

If I file seperate I cant itemize deductions- child care credits (for my bio), student loan interest paid, etc.

Well I just did Tax Act to get an idea of everything (I didnt file) and it had me fill out the form right away. Well I had to select the option to do it, but it allowed me to.

Lady- I did debate on just letting all of the refund go towards paying off the arrears so that they are paid off faster. And while we dont "need, need" the refund, some things came up and I want to make sure we have some extra funds in savings. Even if it doesnt come until August. LOL

BM is already getting CS for MSD who doesnt even live with her anymore and she gets so much in CS because she refuses to work more then 40 hours a week and DH makes decent money. Even if I get back $20 6 months later, as long as she doesnt get MY money I am okay with it Wink LOL
