Documentation --- what has worked for you?

I would like to know what is the best way you think to document everything with bm, biofam, step children, etc?

I have been using several different methods, one my email, two my notes on iPhone, three my calendar and forth keeping every text and voice mail (I record the voice mail using I phone voice memo and then email it to myself). BUT I am finding I need to gather all of it up in one place. I'm thinking computer is best, maybe a word doc or an excel spreadsheet or both.

Any suggestions?

Just wondering...has documentation been useful to anyone in court? I've been documenting tons of stuff for several years...writing notes, putting things on calendars, taking pictures, savings emails, letters, etc., but when we went to court last year, we didn't get to use any of it. Of course, this stuff came in handy for preparing for court (mostly timelines of things), but the judge never once asked for us to show proof of anything we told him (such as when we had emails to back up what we were saying). I'm not saying it's a waste of time to document things, because it's definitely worthwhile, I'm just wondering if anyone else's court case was more dependent on it.
