The ASS Chronicles - the ride to MedusaTown

WalkOnBy's picture

DH finally got home from his business trip last night. It was late, and he was tired, but I asked him how the drive out to Frank's house went. He didn't really want to talk about it, and I was more curious than actually interested, so I dropped it.

This morning, as we were getting ready for work, he started talking about it. He said that there was lots of silence at first, but then ASS started talking about how he was going to find a job, make 10K before he had to leave Frank's house and blah blah blah. DH waited for break in the action and they started discussing whether or not ASS's financial expectations were realistic (um, nope) and what he was going to do when he had to leave Frank's.

ASS said, "what would you think if I tracked down Mom?" DH told him exactly what he thought about that idea - lol! ASS said, and this totally surprised DH (and me when it was relayed to me) that "it wouldn't be good for BabyVoice and Karate Kid, because they don't need the drama." :jawdrop:

DH told me that he has been texting with ASS about looking for a job, inquiring about where he has or might apply, but that ASS's responses were his usual immature and very juvenile normal response. I asked for a little clarification, and he said that when he asked if ASS went out looking for a job, he responded with "job? what's a job?" and when he asked if he was all settled in at Frank's house, he responded with, "Frank, who is Frank?" The maturity level of this kid is about age 12 or 13.

In other news, I have decided that I don't really love any of the sample colors I put on the walls of my office, so it's back to the paint store for me. I am picking up a cool daybed this weekend, and am still looking for a new desk and a bookcase.

Omg. The moping and picking fights and not being happy about things being good. My life right now. I know our situations are different, but my DH is acting the SAME way right now.

10k in 2-3 months? boy he's got no clue at ALL... not surprising.

what kind of colors did you try that you did not like? just being curious, my HGTV obsession is a close second to foodnetwork.... Wink

i got a set of great bookcases at haystack.com - cymax is also good too.

three colors by Behr -

Malaysian Mist - the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream (my favorite)
Peaceful Blue - a sort of french blue
Mulberry Stain - a pale berry color, but it might be too pink....

And, yeah - that ASS has no clue. I guess DH told him how much per year that would be and that with his limited (read NO) experience, that was not a possibility.

My rule is stay away from pink unless you actually PAINT a large sample on the wall first. Then again, I am not a pink fan so there's that.

The green sounds really nice. It'll be tempered by whatever furniture/window coverings you have so you can go pretty bold. I had a nice calyx green living room once and it was fantastic; cream and green.

good point Wink

the houses i grew up in were always painted all white inside. in my 20's i experimented with some light colors, like the pale yellow, green, lilac. at 28, i bought a place from a lady who had the master painted dark brick red.

i LOVED it. it. was. gorgeous!

now i'm totally into the more saturated colors! i helped oss pait his bedroom charcoal gray, which looked amazing with the white trim. i later helped lurch paint over it with a bright royal blue that's freaking awesome. too bad the rest of the house is a very very very light beige, as i wont be painting anything for a very long time.

then I should paint it black !!

Now I am going to have that song stuck in my head Biggrin

ETA - my bedroom is gray and the powder room is, too - I LOVE gray tones.

Maybe a blue gray is the way to go.

I am a poet and don't even know it Biggrin

wob take a walk on the wild side, woman! those are very pretty, but all three are light pastels. try something you've never tried before that goes against what you normally gravitate towards. you may surprise yourself!

eta : behr's website has it to where you can "paint" walls of a room to test it out online, you can choose a room with furniture/trim of similar style or color of what you have, and click on a paint color to try it out online.

HGTV is my obsession as well. I can watch it for hours if left unchecked.
When I'm home alone, and the weather isn't beautiful, I'm like, "Allllllright! Home shows!"

yep - we track his phone. Medusa has changed her cell phone number and the only one that ASS might remember has long since been disconnected.

ASS has not made contact with her - yet...

She no longer lives in MedusaTown, but rather in a smaller city about 15 miles or so south of MedusaTown. ASS doesn't know this. He might remember where GrandMedusa lives, but I doubt that. I don't think he ever had GrandMedusa's phone number because the skids didn't have cell phones until DH got custody.

I think he only wants her because he thinks he will be able to live there. He, like her, is an opportunist and only takes takes takes.

It wouldn't be because he loves her or misses her or even wants a relationship with her - it would be because he could live there. Or, so he thinks.....

We are going to have our house exterior painted this summer...so I'm working on colors too! Exterior is very hard because my neighbors house is a great light green that I would have liked to use. Sad

And we have these decks that are stained this hideous kelly green color that have to be semi-stripped and re-stained. There's no way to get them to the original wood since the former owners did that. Dummies.

Cover1W's picture

Oh, that sounds nice, but DP is NOT into the grey house colors.
Hmmmmm...

I was looking at a nice very light blue with a "tan" deck stain. But it might look too "Tiffany." We won't paint the trim another color as it's a really cool 'boxy' house with lots of decks...
My favorite idea, which the painter may not like (he's going to be good to work with for colors...) is a super dark evergreen for the house with a light wood color deck stain...but he said there's issues with the original deck stain color showing through. So we may end up with a light color house and dark decks after all.

There is this super pretty reddish-brown color for the house I'm thinking of, which would go good with a dark brown deck stain.

Our living room is a warm dark brown color. Our kitchen is a dark red color. In between those two rooms in our dining room. BM had the damn thing painted light blue! Didn't flow well. Took me 2 YEARS to convince my husband that a mustard gold color would be beautiful between those two rooms and make everything flow nicely. He swore it was the ugliest color he had ever seen. Now he loves it and regrets not listening to me sooner. Now anytime I try to get him to do a major change in the house, especially since we are adding an addition/remodeling, I remind him of that event. I'm not waiting 2 years for a damn paint color again! Haha
