At my wits end!!!!

So crazy BM decided it would be a good idea to strangle her 5yr old son to 'protect herself from him as he hit her first'. We have had an exhausting few days in and out of hospital, dealing with police, social services etc.
SS5 has been given to us 'temporarily' pending social services investigation. Police have already said they are not going to prosecute her (yes you heard right!) and it looks as though social services will probably follow suit. (they always have when shes hurt him before).
We have put in for residency but until either that comes through or social services complete their investigation and sign him over permanently we are expected to make the 40mile round trip everyday to take him to his school. This involves waking both our boys up at 5:30am every morning.(We are not allowed to change his school even though my son goes to school here.) Pay for breakfast club and afterschool club because we both work full time. But we cant claim any child benefit or tax credits until we are given permanent residency. Plus we have to continue maintenance payments to her even though he is with us full time!!!
I am exhausted and its only been 5 days!! We are absolutely near breaking point financially, emotionally, etc.
Any ideas how I can get myself through this?????

I would think the strangling is sufficient to file an ex parte motion? Would be heard immediately. They would make a temporary placement while they wait for the full case. Happened with a friend of mine.

You need to file for emergency custody. Child services goal is to return the child to their home it is NOT in your best interest!

File an emergency petition now before they close the case. Then you will have status quo on your side by the time it makes it to court.after getting an emergency petition approved with temp custody...you can change schools and stop support.
