Update: On Older Kitty

thinkthrice's picture

Older Siamese kitty, 19 yrs old has an intestinal tumor so she's not going to make it.  Not sure what my younger cat is going to do, the 12 year old cat as they are compadres.

This kitty predated Chef and was the beginning of my "empty nest" years.  Got her in 2002 where her estimated age was 2 yrs old and she was "with child."

Always very feisty and will always have good memories of her!

So sorry, I was hoping for a better outcome. It is difficult to lose an old friend; she has been with you for a long time.

Peace to you and your other kitty buddy.

When I lost my old tom cat, Matey (he only had one eye), my dog was devastated and truly mourned.

Oh no.. so sorry to hear this... glad you at least got her to the vet so she didn't suffer long.  It's tough losing a member of our family like that!

So very, very sorry to you and your family. I was too hoping for a better outcome for your baby.

19 years old is a testament to the love and care you provided for her.

When we lost our 19 year old fur angel a few months ago, I worried how his best buddy of 4 years would manage. They were inseparable. We make sure to give him extra love, playtime and attention. Every day for the longest time, he would go downstairs and sit and stare at the bed they shared with just a sad look. I would pick him up and divert his attention to a toy, window or groom him, which he loves. They really do miss their friends and they remember.

May all the great memories you had with your beloved Siamese kitty help you to know what a long, wonderful life she was blessed to have.

I'm sorry for you r loss. But beyond happy you have good memories.

My MIL's 18 year old cat got a tumor a while back too. She did at home euthenasia and the kitty passed in her own home.

I'm not sure what you're plan is. But I'm glad that you took her in. And I'm glad you have great memories with her!!!

My thoughts are with you.  Siamese are truly special cats...we were blessed to have a great Siamese boy for 12 years.  I swore when he passed that I would not bring another cat into the house as the only one left was our black manx.  We went 6 months as a single cat household, then brought home a skinny little no tail at all girl.  The manx had grieved his Siamese uncle and after a week of the new one being with us, he was in permanent kitten mode.

for your thoughts.   We had her euthanized late this afternoon and her ashes will be in an urn.   Chef surprised me somewhat as he was crying. . .he always acted like kitty was aloof to him... and he to her.

I've been "drowning my sorrows" but I know that she had a long and spoiled life.  Worried about my younger kitty and how he will react.

Oh no, sorry the news was this and that you lost your beloved girl!!  Hugs to you and hoping for peace and comfort during this time.  I love being able to keep the ashes.  When we lost our Boston I got a cylinder type wooden box that rotates and you can put different pictures of her and the ashes go inside.  It's one of my prized pieces at home.

19 years is a very long time and indeed shows she was so cared for and you know she was loved.  Sorry thinkthrice!!

Oh man, I'm so sorry, thrice. She is obviously much loved and very well cared for, and you can feel pride in that you blessed her with a wonderful life. Not that that makes it easier right now. I also lost a fur baby at age 19- she was there my entire childhood. I feel you, I really do.  ((((HUGS)))) Spoil your other baby with lost of extra attention- she'll be OK in time.
