Pumpkinhead OSS26.5 Buys a House

thinkthrice's picture

Unfortunately it is about twenty minutes away from us.  In other words closer to us than to Girhippoville.

Looks like he and his new wife succumbed to FOMA and a month after they get married, they bought the house with her maiden name on it and his name.  They paid about twice what its worth but I guess that's common nowadays.

Chef and I are seriously thinking of at least spending winters in SE Alabama.   It would make me feel better being that far away from Chef's previously enjoyed family....PASed out as they continue to be.   May also be able to have Awesomeson  his bride and DGD move down south as well.   They seem eager to do so due to NY taxes and looooonnnnnggggg winters.

Its super expensive - over a million dollars - to buy a house here. If your lucky you can get something from 1960 that needs a a lot of rehabbing for 700k. And then there is the mortgage rate...

So Ive been looking ALL over the US for things that I can look forward to for possible retirement. ALthough I doubt Ill be able to ...

I wish we could afford to move away.  We couldn't anyway though.  I'd like to move in five years, so my son could graduate from high school with his friends, but I doubt we'll ever be able to move.  Sadly my SS and his wife the She-Devil live about 15 minutes away from us.  We've been estranged since 2019.  I have wished for one of them to get a great job opportunity far away that they just can't pass up. I'm sure they plan on growing old in the same house they're in now so unless we move, we'll run the risk of running into them.

I did see SS this morning at the grocery store.  I don't know if he saw me.  If he did, then I'm thankful that he avoided me as I avoided him.  At least he had enough sense to not try to talk to me if he did see me.  His wife doesn't have the same sense.  She would try to talk to me and has in the past.  She spotted me and my son at a high school football game two years ago. My daughter is in marching band and we went to see her.  SDIL hollered out to us, saying hey how are you.  I didn't realize who it was until I turned around.  I said we're fine then walked away.

Of being semi retired.  I grocery shop the same stores as Pumpkinhead, but I shop in the a.m. when they are at work.

Unfortunately he was on the job.  He works for an alcohol distributor and I guess he was there to make sure everything was going ok.  So it will be hard to predict when he might be there or somewhere else.  I don't know where all he goes during the work day.  But luckily, he either didn't see me, is respecting that I don't want to talk to him, or our cut off is/was mutual.  Option two or three is just fine with me.  It means he'll stay away from me.

We lived less than six miles away from DH's eldest daughter, the raging user narc. And despite being estranged for nearly twelve years, I've yet to bump into her or any of her family while shopping. She's an early bird, while I prefer to shop in the afternoon.

TT, does it bother you that a skid is able to buy a home while Chef is still hobbled by cs? I could understand feeling some resentment about it.

That it was financed mostly by his wife's side of the family.  Her maiden name appears first on the tax rolls and he is listed afterwards.  Not Pumpkinhead and Wife.

ExJulie, she probably does doordash exclusively.
