One More Year

thinkthrice's picture

Until the last of the three ferals age out at 21(NYS CS laws suck)

The PI route went nowhere as the PI lost his wife and hasn't worked since.   We have no idea if YSS actually moved into the Gir's new downsized house back in May.  99% sure the Gir thinks we don't know she moved.

YSS does have a job and is not a position that is part time (manufacturing at a glass factory).

The longest year.

One year!! Thats amazing! Even better that you dont have arrears or anything owed to the state because all of that ends up being garnished and retirement/estate are pretty much non existent.

My husband has 4 more years to go with some arrears. Years ago, i tried to help him draft an aggressive plan to pay it back in full but he said he didnt care. The end result is that he will be paying it for a long time or it will simply be taken out of his retirement/estate. You cant really financially plan with such ppl. I just learned to keep my finances on the side.

And I do mean "we" because if it hadn't been for my wages, Chef would have been living in a cardboard box, have been paying CS since YSS was 18 mos. old.  Two decades of impoverishment.

In the early years, after paying NON-ARREARS CS for the 3 ferals and taxes, Chef's take home pay was often $60 a week.

Wow...thats a long time to pay CS. My husband has been on CS since his youngest was 3months old. He was on CS and living with his ex and unaware that she had filed. He continued to he on CS for 2years while living with them and never paid so he had lots of arrears. I tried to help him make a plan to aggressivley curb that debt but he refused. So now he sits with arrears + interest. He pays monthly but he can never catch up unless he would be willing to pay a little more every month for the next 3 or 4 years to close the gap but he says he wont and feels its unfair.

It is difficult financially but these ppl dont realise until they get old and figure out that they have nothing well planned financially and everything will go to the CS

I am happy for you that you are close to the end. This will be the start of a new financial era for both of you!

Ugh the laws here in NY can be a PITA. Glad you only have one year left and I'm sorry the PI didn't work out.

Insanity. That you have to support a grown adult with a full time job of his own. Hoping that this year goes by quick for you.

It actually goes by fairly quick. And each month brings anticipation of the end. Maybe do a app that does a countdown? LOL (I actually think I did this)

In my state, CS ends at 18, unless said child is still in high school. Then it goes to graduation date or age 19. DH's youngest missed 53 days of his Senior year when back on BMs watch and failed his senior year, which meant we had to pay an additional two month of CS. When I saw what was going on, got with DH and we decided to send her May, June and July. I made sure to send a note saying, since X is not going to graduate high school with you, here is your FINAL CS payment. I truly think she let him fail so she could get an extra $2K out of us. SMH

Yet, once again, CajunMom comes to the rescue. I approached DH and suggested we get his son a car IF he goes for his GED. He did...took him 2 weeks (so sad that he really could have had his diploma). So, we got him a car. And the hoops I had to jump through to make THAT happen in a timely fashion for SS. Makes me sick to think of all I did and how I was treated. Meh...let me not go down that rabbit hole.

Hang in there, thinkthrice...it will go by quickly.

I started one of those countdown app things back when Little Idiot was going to ship out to boot camp. Of course it had to keep getting reset every time she deliberately sabotaged the situation. She had better never admit to it or I may lose my sh- on her.

I have had one going since 2005.  It was nauseating to look at it then.

When i think of all the goodies we funded for the Girhippo.  Never used to support the ferals as she married the walking cash machine, SDBB the next year.

1 Year and 5 months more to go. Translates to 17 more months to go!!!

DEFINITELY on the countdown, hoping SD16.75 power sulk doesnt do like her sister and miss the important milestones of getting summer jobs and getting drivers license.

and then The Beaver will be off our payroll.  We have been paying CS since SD was 18 months old.  I CANNOT WAIT...we are so close to being done.
