I Couldn't Be A Teacher

A couple of years back we had a case where a kid took the bus to school then ditched school.  Ended up drowned in a river.   Guess the kid was truant so often that they had gotten in the habit of marking him "present" for the funding.  Or so it seemed.

Now a letter for Chef came in stating that YSS is basically doing the same thing.   He's ditching school altogether but he is also ditching detention for being late to school every day and YSS feels he can roam about the school unaccounted for.   This makes it virtually impossible to track a kid.   I have a strong feeling that YSS16 is going to drop out of school and get in trouble with the law at some point.  He has NO respect for authority (shocker).   Since birth he was always allowed to get away with everything because he was "cute" (I didn't see it--frankly a face only a Girhippo and Chef could love).

This prompted a search at school for YSS16 only to find him in a room where he wasn't supposed to be in.   Yeah I couldn't be a teacher; you must have to have the patience of a saint.

I tip my hat off to teachers and anyone period who has to deal with children on a constant basis. It's not easy and personally I don't have the patience and/or tolerance for half the sh!t some of these kids do......

I think SD6's teacher legitimately is a saint... She's a demon when she detoxes... I sit there thinking "go to school so I get a break!" But that poor teacher...

That poor kid you wrote about Sad

Your SS likely will... It starts there, then continues to escalate as they get a worse and worse "above the law" attitude going on.

What kind of school does he go to? We have an attendance program that is ran every class hour of every day to keep accurate records of those checking in or out. We get text messages if we don’t submit attendance within the first 10 minutes of class and our kids have designated times to go to the bathrooms (center thirty minutes of the class) so the admin can make rounds in the halls...but that’s more so bc our kids started a fight club on year in the bathrooms and now vaping has become the newest epidemic. Our “mischievous” bunch don’t bother hitting the parking lot. They’d rather their parents get served for truancy.

I got my degree in teaching, for part of my curriculum  we had to have 40 hours classroom time.  I got placed in a grade school classroom where the teacher had all her “problem” children in the front two rows.  The last two rows were all kids who could “learn on their own”.

After my two weeks I opted not to be a teacher and went a different path. To become a teacher in CA you must get a four year degree.  After you get your degree you must test out for your credentials, these tests cost no less than 150 a piece, and you must take multiple tests to get credentialed...fail the test you lose the money.

You can go on after your four years and get your masters which some universities ensure you can get your credentials that way, but you are pretty much a person being paid less than an entry level engineer with a four year degree!

I have a friend that is a teacher. She is a lovely woman and so smart and kind. I don't know how she does it. She has told me stories about kids that aggressively confront her and challenge her and she keeps her cool and does not show her emotions. Parents who tell her it's not their job to continue education at home (such as going over spelling lists). I don't like people enough to put up with all of that.

Being a teacher is like being on a room full of skids. A bunch of entitled brats coming from entitled parents.

I thank God every day thatmy bios turned out so well
