Hooray!! SD 18.5 "Graduates" HS with a D Average!

Hats off to underachieving mediocrity!!! Guess they weren't going to force her to take her eighth straight year of summer school.

And now on to remedial community college where she will inevitably perpetually fail and drop out; thusly allowing the Girhippo to continue milking the CS cash cow until at least 21. And no, SD will not be living on or off campus--she will be making that 20 minute drive to community college.

Does anyone have any experience with revising the CO to include a decent GPA, etc. (attendance "seems" be covered in the CO--no gap year or less than matriculation full-time unless "good cause*")

*Which the Girhippo will make sure there is a "good cause."

The last time Chef spoke with his attorney due to OSS's "surprise" emancipation, the attorney stated that he should "cross that bridge when he came to it." Both, given SD's academic performance, were thinking that SD would not attend college.

I knew otherwise because it means extending the CS gravy train for the Girhippo.

I don't know of any CO that has stipulated a certain GPA. Not saying there isn't one, just never heard of it.
I would think that it really wouldn't be an issue because the school will handle that themselves. If the kid fails college classes, they will be put on probation from the school and or kicked out.

As far as CS...out state changed things a few years back and all CS stops at 19. The only way it will continue is if the kid petitions the court for further educational expenses prior to their 19th birthday. If they don't petition, then the NCP is off the hook for future CS or college expenses.

thrice - I don't think there's any harm in asking to modify the CO to include full time attendance and a particular GPA. A friend of mine has that in his CO - his XW is a lot like the Gir.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

Also - will the Gir's income or lack thereof mean that SD will get the tuition deal in NYS??

Good point. Just a consultation would be good to have.
I was reading up on the FSFA-- No WONDER she quit--however she'd have to include StepDaddyBigBucks income on it AND the CS she is collecting!

I would simply keep quiet about it all for now and see what SD decides...

if she's taking a gap year, I will quietly get CO to stop the CS till time she enrolls in college, and I will make sure it stipulates rules and regulations like passing mark on all subjects, full time attendance, graduation with in 2 years.. or 3 years....

this can my argued as, she's 18 - CS till 21 .... if she takes a gap year, no CS, CS will them be 19-21.. thus the longer she takes to go to college the shorter time for CS....

Me thinks she WOULD do a gap year if she could get away with it. But it is obvious the Gir has re-read the CO and is enrolling her right away. Which, by my predictions, she will flunk out of in the first month or two.

I'd still like to put in the CO the attendance and grade thing as well as SD getting claimed by Chef for tax year 2018.
