Going Through StepHELL as a SM with a Disney Dad and a PASer BFF Holier Than Thou BM is like. . .

being a survivor of some sort of traumatic experience such as a devastating house fire or a burglary.

You can never quite get over it. You're always looking over your shoulder and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Your guard never gets dropped completely and you're always mulling over scenarios "down the road" should they (and they will) crop up.

That's why this site is so helpful. It seems these Disney Dads and PASer BMs all read off the same script. Learning from others "what happens next" and what you can do to protect yourself/or prevent the nastiness is most insightful.

The best advice, of course, is to AVOID being a SM at ALL COSTS!! I'm sure it's frustrating for many stepDADS as well, but it seems to go quite a bit smoother since the overblown "maternal instinct" and "wicked stepmother" stereotypes don't come into play.

I'm still in complete awe of the few (very few) people who can navigate steplife without any major issues. I know it's possible but it's like finding the golden ticket---it's out there but not something you can really expect to have.

You are so right! If I could do it over again....
We're at the point where it looks like the younger SD is PASing out. We even have her mother doing it on tape. But until Disney Dad pulls his head out of his ass, it won't matter because he refuses to enforce the CO.
